– Spike TV recently announced they will begin airing select shows in High Definition starting January 1st. While there has been no formal announcement that TNA iMPACT! will air in HD in January, the company has been testing out the technology and should be switching over in the first half of 2008. WWE is in the same boat with their HD strategy.

– Many have seen the video going around of former WWE jobber Damian Demento ranting about how WWE was wrong to use his image to promote the RAW XV anniversary special. After the first clip got so much attention, Demento is back – and he’s still mad. This time, he complains about people calling him jobber (oops). That video can be seen at this link.

– New WWE superstar Kofi Kingston is currently listed as the #4 top searched item on the Yahoo! search engine. Kingston, who has only appeared in “coming soon” video packages so far, is being billed as WWE’s first Jamaican superstar.

WWE’s Jim Ross was on the sidelines at the Oklahoma Sooners game this week. There was a close up shown of him during the 4th quarter. As Ross shook his head, commentators said he couldn’t be happy with the way the game was going.

Maryse Ouellet is the model for January of Playboy Hottest Nudes 2008 Calendar.

Maria will be the WWE Playboy cover girl this year as part of promotion for Wrestlemania XXIV.

However, she has not been replaced by Melina; the reason why Kelly Kelly is not immediately known although Melina will be there from Noon to 2 PM local time.

— In the days following his loss to Georges St. Pierre, former UFC Lightweight champion Matt Hughes said he was considering retirement. After wrapping up a national book tour, Hughes tells UFC.com that he’s not retiring and he still wants to fight Matt Serra:

“I told (UFC President) Dana (White) that I might take a little time off to see my family and because I’m starting this new gym, the H.I.T. Squad, and I’m getting my clothing line out there. But I want to see Georges and Matt fight, and I told Dana that I’d probably like to fight Matt Serra after that fight. If Matt loses, I’ll be looking to fight him. The fans will definitely see me in the Octagon again. I will be there.”

— This week Chuck Liddell spoke to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer about his next fight in the UFC:

“My next fight will probably be in the summer and I am thinking about Jardine since Jackson is already scheduled to fight (Forrest Griffin). I can’t wait around (for Jackson). I love the sport and I think I have a couple years left in me. I’m a very competitive person. I don’t even like to lose at things I’m not good at.”

— The January edition of Power Slam Magazine out of the U.K. is saying in their monthly newsline report that Michelle McCool is dating a “powerful member of the WWE empire.” Here is what they wrote to be exact: “Rumour has it that Michelle McCool is going out with a powerful member of the WWE empire, who happens to be married…”

— More on Bobby Lashley’s departure from WWE. He is the one that wanted out of WWE and not vice versa. Furthermore, he didn’t want out to go to a MMA promotion, or TNA, or anywhere else, he simply wanted out of WWE.

— Ever since John Cena’s surprise in-ring return Sunday night at the Royal Rumble, Triple H has reportedly been politicking like crazy for the WrestleMania main event slot.
