Page Six is reporting that former-WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Sasha Banks has infuriated those at The Wendy Williams Show, after the WWE Superstar pulled out of a scheduled appearance “only hours before the show tapes.”

Banks took to Twitter to announce that she had to pull out of the appearance, citing undisclosed “personal reasons.” According to Page Six, she did not give a “real reason” to the show’s producers and will likely not be booked on the show again.

Due to personal reasons, I had to pull out of my appearance today on @WendyWilliams . Sorry to everyone who was looking forward to it. Hopefully the opportunity will be there again later. #IfYouOnlyKnew

Banks was cryptic during last night’s episode of RAW, leaving a personal, yet vague, note for her fans.

“There is something about the way life happens today that makes it hard to look ahead. There are things that make it difficult to laugh; difficult to live the way you want. There are things that make it almost impossible to trust where you are, or to believe in where you want to be,” her message read. “You look around and life is happening way too fast. Sometimes it feels like the moments are gone. Everything happens all at once and right away. We’re marching towards a destiny we cannot understand, towards the kingdom of convenient. Then one day you look up and you can’t find the meaning,” the message continued. “Your crisis of purpose and passion is acting up, but they tell you that that’s suppose [sic]to be normal. Well… I don’t want normal, I want magic; cause that’s the place that feels like home to me. That’s the place where I remember what dreams look like, where meaning is effortless, and purpose is simple. That’s the place where love still matters. I want that feeling of coming home again. I want to feel like myself….. I want that magic.”

The Monday Night Raw tag team division just got a major facelift, thanks to the third annual WWE Superstar Shake-Up.

Arguably the best tag team in the world today, Jimmy and Jey Uso have officially joined the red brand. The six-time WWE tag champions kicked off their first night back on Raw with a huge victory, putting down the “Glorious” Bobby Roode and Chad Gable.

Earlier in the night, the current reigning NXT Tag Team Champions, The War Raiders, who are now going under the name The Viking Experience (yes, seriously…), were also moved to Monday Night Raw as a part of the WWE Superstar Shake-Up. Suddenly the red brand’s tag team division is looking better than it has in years!

According to PWInsider.com, Joey Ryan is at this week’s Impact Wrestling television tapings in  Las Vegas. He was reportedly recording pre-tape footage on Thursday and may have appeared on that night’s show.

Ryan first appeared for Impact (then known as TNA Wrestling) back in 2012 when he was still rising through the ranks on the independent scene. His run there was short-lived, leaving the following year, but it wasn’t long after when his gimmick began to really catch fire.

Of course, he was brought to Lucha Underground in 2015, and once again exploded in popularity as a reoccurring character on Being the Elite, famously being murdered on the show by Hangman Page, and then returning to haunt him with a fleet of Penis Druids at All In in 2018.

AEW Star Sammy Guevara recently spoke with the Talk Is Jericho podcast where the two Inner Circle members talked about WWE. Below are some highlights with a H/T to WrestlingInc.com for the transcriptions.

Guevara firstly spoke about his time with Lucha Underground:

“That was a cool little thing going on. I only did Season 4,” said Guevara. “It almost didn’t happen because I was signed on to Aro Lucha. I got in there because of Konnan. I almost felt like he didn’t care about me until he realized I was Cuban.

I actually worked with Jack Swagger over there. I did a crazy 20-foot moonsault off the top of the balcony onto just him. It was all my fault,” admits Guevara. “He was very against the idea but thought it was my last night over there because I was getting my leg broken, so I said, well, who cares let’s go out with a bang. I did it, and as I am going backward, all the ring steps are close so as I land I roll to the side, so I don’t roll back and bonk my head. I roll my ankle so it was basically a broken-ankle thing. I roll him in the ring and the last thing I need to do is a springboard so I’m like, okay, come on, don’t f**k me up right now, do this, and luckily my body didn’t give up on me.”

On a WWE tryout making him lose interest in signing for the company:

“I did have a WWE tryout in 2017, but I think it was just for me to get into the system,” revealed Guevara. “It was definitely a difficult tryout. I was doing a bunch of cardio leading up to that. I had the elevation masks on. They were making us run the ropes, dropping down over bags, high knees holding on to the top ropes. We would do that in 5 different rings, and then line back up and do all sorts of different stuff. William Regal was there; Norman Smiley was there. Ricky Starks was in the tryout as well.”

“I don’t think any wrestler got signed. I think a collegiate wrestler got signed. It felt that if you want to do this for a living f**k you, but these models, ex-Football players they treated them really good and almost shame on you for actually wanting to be a wrestler,” said Guevara. “It seemed like when the cameras were on they really played it up. It felt like a whole gimmick to me because everyone was chill until the cameras were on and suddenly they start drilling and yelling at you. I’m like, alright, I see what this is. It definitely opened up my eyes because I wouldn’t want to be there, maybe not ever, but certainly not now just because of the way they treated me. Maybe it’s different now, I don’t know, but during that time I saw that unless I was a somebody it’s going to be hell here.”

As advertised, the Dark Order’s Evil Uno and Stu Greyson appeared live on a special fan-less edition of AEW Dynamite, revealing the identity of the mysterious “Exalted One”.

The faction has been targeting SoCal Uncensored for the better part of 2020, with their unknown leader seemingly holding some sort of grudge against Christopher Daniels in particular. This week’s show saw Daniels once again call out the Dark Order, claiming that their so-called “Exalted One” is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Or so he thought…

The leading rumor for months is that the mysterious figure would be revealed as Broken Matt Hardy, with the anticipation of his debut rising when his contract with WWE expired at the end of February. Hardy did in fact debut this Wednesday on Dynamite (LINK), but as it turns out he has nothing to do with the faction – at least for now.

The Exalted One of the Dark Order is none other than Brodie Lee, who for the last 8 years has been wrestling in WWE under the name Luke Harper. Lee was released from his contract in December, but his arrival in AEW has been anticipated for months. Check out the video of his debut below.

Vince McMahon Provides Cash Infusion To WWE

August 2, 2021 | News | No Comments

WWE announced through their corporate website that Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Vince McMahon entered into a prepaid forward contract to transfer approx. $3,500,000 worth of Class B stock, a move designed to infuse WWE with liquid assets. Essentially, WWE gets the money, in exchange for McMahon trading the equivalent shares at a later date. McMahon will retain voting and dividend rights through this measure.

Here is the filing IN FULL, and below is the section of the filing pertaining to the shares:

Item 8.01. Other Events.

On March 24, 2020, Vincent K. McMahon (“Mr. McMahon”), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (the “Company”), entered into a variable prepaid forward contract with an unaffiliated bank (the “Bank”) covering approximately 3.5 million shares of the Company’s Class B common stock. The variable prepaid forward contract is scheduled to settle on specified dates in March 2024, at which time the actual number of shares of the Company’s Class A common stock to be delivered by Mr. McMahon will be determined based on the price of the Company’s Class A common stock on such dates, with the aggregate number not to exceed approximately 3.5 million shares, which is the number of shares of Class B common stock pledged by Mr. McMahon to secure his obligations under the contract. Subject to certain conditions, Mr. McMahon can also elect to settle the variable prepaid forward contract in cash and thereby retain full ownership of the pledged shares.

Mr. McMahon entered into the variable prepaid forward contract to provide current liquidity while allowing him to maintain voting and ordinary dividend rights in the stock, as well as the ability to participate in future stock price appreciation, during the term of the contract and thereafter if Mr. McMahon settles the variable prepaid forward contract in cash.

The shares covered by the variable prepaid forward contract represent approximately 4.5% of the Company’s total outstanding shares of Class A and Class B common stock. The variable prepaid forward contract does not apply to the approximately 25,198,344 other shares of Class B common stock beneficially owned by Mr. McMahon. Those shares represent approximately 70.5% of the Company’s total voting power. The variable prepaid forward contract contains a 60-day lock-up restricting Mr. McMahon’s ability to sell or transfer additional shares of the Company’s common stock during such period without the Bank’s prior approval. Mr. McMahon has informed us that he intends to continue in his capacity as the Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for the foreseeable future.

Daniel Ricciardo believes his former Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen has “ironed out” most of the mistakes and wild moves that impacted some of the Dutchman’s races in the early stages of his career.

Verstappen became the youngest driver ever to race in Formula 1 when he was offered a seat with Toro Rosso in 2015. But four races into the 2016 season, the promising young talent was promoted to Red Bull Racing where he replaced Daniil Kvyat.

It was a thundering debut for Verstappen who won the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, becoming at just 18 years and 227 days the youngest ever winner in the history of Grand Prix racing.

But the Dutchman’s subsequent development in F1 was a bumpy affair, marked by a few incidents and wild moves that left his rivals unimpressed. In the early part of 2018, Verstappen’s results were undermined by a series of errors and run-ins that culminated with a blunder in free practice at Monaco where Ricciardo would go on to win the race.

The set back encouraged Verstappen to rein in his intrepid approach to racing.

Ricciardo raced alongside Verstappen from 2016 to 2018, a coexistence at Red Bull that was not without its tussles and flash points between the two fiercely competitive drivers.

But the Aussie believes that his former teammate has matured over the years and transformed into a solid racer without losing any of his blistering fast pace.

“I think Max was under a bit of let’s say pressure in his first couple of years of F1 with some of the moves and that,” said Ricciardo ahead of this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

“I definitely think he’s ironed a lot of that out and I think he’s just matured as a driver.

“For sure he’ll always race hard. But, I mean, we were team-mates [for] three years [and] we came together twice, so that’s pretty low numbers, I think.”

After Verstappen’s high-profile run-in with Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone last time out, Ricciardo suggested that Hamilton had gone into Copse corner “too hot for the given level of grip”.

But in Budapest, the McLaren driver labeled the clash between the two title contenders a racing incident.

“They’ve been racing hard all year so I’ve put it down, generally to a racing incident,” he said. “I think the main thing was that Max, let’s say, got away safely.

“Obviously for his health and well being, it’s great and also for the sake of the championship.”
