ATLANTA, GA — A toddler battling cancer had her medicine stolen, her family tells WHNS. Thieves broke into their car when it was parked at the downtown Atlanta Sheraton; the family is in the city while the little girl undergoes treatment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Her daughter’s cancer medicine was stolen, along with cancer beads and a diary.

“There’s only a 20 percent chance my daughter is going to live to the age of four,” Hailey Allen tells the station.

The couple were led to a house last Thursday morning in Union City following a tracking device the suspects picked up. The parents said they called 911 so an officer could escort them to the door. Without a warrant, the officer couldn’t go inside.

“He said his son had just gotten home two hours previously and he was sleeping so he wasn’t going to wake him up and told us he didn’t care that our daughter had cancer,” Allen said of a resident who was confronted.

The family is asking the public to help them identify the thief. According to Atlanta Police, the investigation is on-going.
