Ambrose on WWE Departure, Callihan Talks Ambrose, Choshu Retiring
July 2, 2020 | News | No Comments
During last night’s broadcast called The Shield’s Final Chapter on the WWE Network, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns teamed up one last time at a WWE live event. The Shield won their last match as a group during the show. Ambrose is set to leave WWE at the end of the month. After the match, The Shield members were interviewed by Michael Cole. Of course, the topic of Ambrose’s future came up, but the former WWE Champion was quick to say that he is walking away from the company on his own terms and cannot be convinced to stay at this point. Ambrose’s goals outside of WWE remain unknown at this time, but some recent reports have claimed that he has no plans to continue wrestling for now.
“Eight years ago, I walked into this casino. Now i’m cashing in my chips, and I’m walking away from the table. I won the game. What I do with the rest of my life from here on out is my business. I answer to no one. This time, the million dollar man didn’t get what he wanted. ‘Cause I can’t be bought.” Ambrose said.

Although Dean Ambrose is finishing his run with WWE right now, some fans believe that he will continue his wrestling career as part of a different promotion. Perhaps “The Lunatic Fringe” could make an appearance for All Elite Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, or Ring of Honor, but Impact Wrestling’s Sami Callihan has begun to tease reuniting with Ambrose. Ambrose and Callihan teamed up together in Combat Zone Wrestling back in the day as Switchblade Conspiracy. Maybe this is a sign that Ambrose and Callihan will reform their team in Impact soon. Ambrose is said to be taking a hiatus from wrestling altogether after leaving WWE, but this could be one option for him if he does decide to eventually return to the ring.
New Japan Pro Wrestling is set to lose another talent another big name later on this year. The promotion has just announced that Riki Choshu will be retiring from the wrestling business on June 26th. Choshu will be teaming up with Shiro Koshinaka and Tomohiro Ishii to take on Tatsumi Fujinami, Keiji Muto, and Togi Makabe. Choshu has been competing as far back as the 1970s, and has worked for NJPW as a performer and in a behind the scenes role. Choshu initially retired from wrestling back in 1998, but he made a comeback in 2000 and has continued wrestling on and off again since that time. The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion’s retirement announcement comes right after Jushin “Thunder” Liger confirmed that he will finish his own career on January 4th, 2020.
