The 50-man Royal Rumble match officially marked the largest Royal Rumble match that WWE has ever produced in the history of the company. With the unique setting in Saudi Arabia, and with several spots still open before the match began, it only made sense that WWE would want to surprise the fans by adding a few unexpected entrants into the match. Most of the participants in the Royal Rumble match were taken from the Raw and Smackdown rosters, however, there were also quite a number of returning stars and NXT Superstars who joined the match. Below is a complete list of all of the surprise entrants involved in the 50-man Royal Rumble match (not including the previously announced Rey Mysterio, The Great Khali, Chris Jericho, and Mark Henry entrants).
The Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia saw the following surprise entrants debut in Royal Rumble the match:
– Hiroki Sumi: Sumi is a 400-pound Japanese sumo wrestler who entered the match as a complete surprise. He competed in Japan as Hishofuji before retiring in January 2017. Sumi entered the match at #7 and was eliminated by Mark Henry.
