For eight years, it has insulted, entertained, and bemused in a tireless quest to bring Twitter trolling into the diplomatic mainstream. 

Now @RussianEmbassy, the official Twitter feed of Russia’s diplomatic mission on Kensingston Palace Gardens that once compared Barack Obama to a duck, could be under threat. 

Britain has ordered 23 Russian diplomats to quit the London Embassy by next week as retaliation for the attempted poisoning of Sergei Skripal, a former Russian intelligence officer who spied for the UK. 

The British government says all those expelled are spies under diplomatic cover, it is unclear whether their number includes the mysterious author behind @RussianEmbassy.
