At Tuesday’s episode of 205 Live, the latest number one contender to the WWE Cruiserweight Championship was decided in the main event of the evening.
In a Fatal-4-Way match held to determine the next man who will challenge reigning WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville, the man who attempted to dethrone him from the top spot in the division in his last title defense once again moved to the top of the list of Superstars hoping to earn a shot at the champion.
Austin Aries emerged victorious in the final match of the evening at this week’s 205 Live show, defeating Jack Gallagher, Mustafa Ali and former title-holder T.J. Perkins in the match held inside the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
With the win, Aries, who came up short in his attempt to capture the title from reigning champion Neville at this past Sunday’s WrestleMania 33 pay-per-view, will get another opportunity at the reigning division champion and former NXT World Champion in the next WWE Cruiserweight Championship match.
While still unconfirmed, it is expected that Neville vs. Austin Aries II for the WWE Cruiserweight Title will take place at the upcoming WWE Payback pay-per-view scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 30th at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
