Two title matches took place on last night’s episode of NXT.
Both of those matches saw champions retain their titles. In the main event of the episode, Kushida defeated Santos Escobar in a two-out-of-three falls match to retain the NXT Cruiserweight Championship. Raquel Gonzalez also made her first NXT Women’s Championship defense, defeating Mercedes Martinez.
Escobar scored the first fall in last night’s Cruiserweight title match, but Kushida won the next two to retain. Kushida tweeted after the show: “Has this title ever been in the limelight so much before? This is the moment when this title is shining the most in history. Title match in the main event. I feel very confident tonight @WWE @WWENXT”
WWE uploaded a post-show video where Gonzalez showed respect to Martinez backstage following their match. Dakota Kai wasn’t happy with Gonzalez doing that.
Plus, NXT Champion Karrion Kross and NXT Tag Team Champions MSK were in action in non-title matches, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott introduced his new Hit Row group, Bobby Fish made his return, and more.
