Viewers won’t have to wait long for tonight’s WWE World Championship match.
ESPN’s Jonathan Coachman tweeted on Sunday afternoon: “sources tell me tonight don’t tune in late. First time ever a @Wwe ppv will start with main event. Ambrose/Cena/styles for title. 8 east.”
WWE also confirmed the news themselves.
The scheduled main event for the show was AJ Styles defending his title against John Cena and Dean Ambrose in a triple threat match. No indication was given as to what match would now close the show.
The decision to open the show with the title match is likely the result of tough competition No Mercy is facing on television. The second presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will start at 9 p.m. ET. The first debate between the two broke ratings records, and Sunday night’s debate figures to do a strong number as well given recent controversies surrounding Trump.
No Mercy will also go against a strong Sunday Night Football game, with the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers kicking off at 8:30 p.m. ET.
