Former TNA Knockout Arrested For Stimulant Drug Use After Telling Promoter She Was Being Held at Knifepoint

Japanese-Mexican professional wrestler Ayako Hamada, 37, has been arrested by Tokyo Metropolitan Police for the alleged use of stimulant drugs.

Hamada was scheduled to compete on May 13th in Osaka for the Sendei Girls promotion, but according to Tokyo Daily News, informed the agency that she works through, Pro Wrestling Wave, that she was being held at knifepoint by four men. A representative from the promotion then called the police, who found her in her apartment, “rambling incoherently and behaving in a strange manner.”

It’s unknown exactly what substances were in the wrestler’s system at the time of her arrest, but a urine test turned up positive results for “kakuseizai”, which in Japan is used as a general term for stimulant drugs. The term is also frequently used to represent uppers like cocaine and methamphetamines, and is sometimes just used to describe meth specifically.

Hamada’s contract with Pro Wrestling Wave has officially been terminated, and she was immediately stripped of the Sendi Girls World Championship.

Born Ayako Valentina Hamada Villarreal, she is the daughter of legendary Japanese wrestler Gran Hamada and the sister of Xóchitl Hamada. She is a former TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion, winning the gold with Awesome Kong, a former AAA Reine de Reines Champion, and had a lengthy stint with Shimmer in the U.S. as well.
