Backstage Update on When Released WWE Stars Become Free Agents

As we noted earlier this week, WWE stars Emma, Darren Young and Summer Rae were released from the company. Emma had recently been working with Asuka on Raw, and Darren Young and Summer Rae had been off WWE TV.

According to The Wrestling Observer, all three released WWE stars contractually will remain under WWE no-compete clauses for the next 90 days, and will not become free agents until their contracts expire in February. This would likely make the talents available to work for other televised promotions in March of next year.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is also reporting that WWE will not be signing Mae Young Classic competitors Toni Storm and Piper Niven. The report adds both talents were told they would be hearing from WWE following the tournament, but that has yet to happen, so the feeling is they will not be signed.

In related news, Candice LeRae, who also worked the Mae Young Classic and is married to NXT standout Johnny Gargano, has yet to be signed by WWE.
