How to improve tower packing efficiency

Random packing is the core component of the packed tower, and the mass transfer efficiency of the packing is directly related to the operation performance of the packed tower. To improve the mass transfer efficiency of the filler, it can be considered to increase the specific surface area of the tower packing, improve the surface utilization rate, increase the diffusion coefficient or reduce the thickness of the stagnant film layer.

The mass transfer efficiency of chemical packing can be improved by changing the structure of the packed column

1. One of the main factors that determine the efficiency of the packing is the length of the contact time between the gas and liquid phases on the surface of the packing. Within a certain packing height, the longer the air contact time, the higher the packing efficiency.

2. Increasing the specific surface area of the packing can improve the mass transfer efficiency, but at the same time it will increase the operating pressure drop of the tower, reduce the flux, increase the liquid holdup, and also increase the investment cost. Therefore, it is necessary to comprehensively consider various operating factors and price factors of the packed tower to determine the appropriate specific surface area of the packing. The surfaces provided by the packing are not all effective gas-liquid contact surfaces, and improving the effective utilization of the specific surface area can improve the efficiency of the packing.

3. Fillers with different structures have the same specific surface area, but their properties are different. The performance of the filler can be improved by changing the structure of the filler. This is exactly what the development of new fillers does. Increasing the number of small plates composing the filler and changing the angle of the liquid flowing along the surface of the filler can increase the gas-liquid contact time and improve the efficiency of the filler.

How to Choose the Right Chemical Tower Packing

Chemical tower packing is a kind of solid filler, because of its easy materials, convenient manufacturing, cheap, so it is widely used at present. Its function is to provide sufficient contact surface for gas and liquid, and to create conditions for strengthening its turbulence degree, so as to facilitate mass transfer. But the current chemical packing market is mixed, so we need to know our requirements before we buy chemical tower packing, but also to understand what kind of chemical packing can be used.

The efficiency of packed tower has a great relationship with the chemical packing used. Generally, the chemical packing has the following requirements:

1, chemical packing for the material processing requirements have good corrosion resistance;

2, the chemical filler is larger than the surface. That is, the surface area of packing layer per unit volume should be large;

3, the density of the chemical packing itself (including material and structure) should be small, and have enough mechanical strength;

4, chemical packing surface wettability is better, and in the structure should be conducive to close contact, promote turbulence;

5, chemical packing void rate (also known as free volume) to large. That is, the void volume of packing layer per unit volume should be large.

Inert alumina ceramic ball has the characteristics of high mechanical strength, long service life, good chemical stability, no chemical reaction with materials, high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance, strong acid and alkali corrosion resistance, and good thermal shock stability.

 

Because the chemical nature of the inert porcelain ball is relatively lazy, it obviously does not undergo chemical reactions throughout the reactor. Use a carrier to cover the catalyst without changing the catalyst. The gas or liquid in the reactor has a temperature. The filling above the ceramic ball prevents the gas or liquid from blowing directly to the catalyst, which has a protective effect on the catalyst control. The shape of the porcelain ball is conducive to the uniform distribution of gas or liquid. Promote a more complete chemical reaction.

 

The main function of the filled ceramic ball is to increase the distribution point of gas or liquid, and support and protect the active catalyst of chemical materials with low strength. It is mainly used in the high-temperature, high-pressure, corrosive working environment of the chemical industry, in the petroleum, chemical industry, reformers, reactors, packing towers to prevent the equipment covered by the filtered silica or form fouling or damage the catalyst carrier.

 

Filler ceramic balls are also commonly used in high and low temperature converters, converters, hydroconverters, desulfurization tanks and converters in chemical fertilizer plants and hot blast stoves and heating conversion equipment in the iron and steel industry. Preparation before filling inert ceramic ball:

(1) The dust and sundries in the tower should be cleaned up before the ceramic ball is loaded.

(2) In the interior of the tower, mark the loading height line of each ceramic ball and catalyst according to the loading drawing.

(3) Cranes, cranes and other necessary machinery should be prepared for large-scale projects.

(4) The staff who take part in the loading of ceramic balls should have a clear division of labor and be dedicated full-time so as not to cause confusion

(5) Check whether the ceramic ball and catalyst are consistent with the requirements of the loaded porce

In the construction process:

(1) When filling the lowest layer in the tower, we should pay attention to not causing damage to other systems in the tower. After paving the first layer, we should use tools to evenly tile the layer and ensure that the surface of the layer is on the same level.

(2) After the completion of the bottom installation, the platform for easy operation of the construction personnel should be laid first, so as to avoid the horizontal movement of the porcelain ball layer caused by the workers standing directly on the porcelain ball.

(3) The thickness of each layer of porcelain ball should be accurate and uniform, and the height should be consistent with the marked horizontal line.

Points for attention:

(1) In order to facilitate the operation of staff, low-voltage lighting should be connected to the interior of the tower.

(2) Before the operation, the staff should take off the easy to fall off items with them, wear professional work clothes and take good safety measures.

(3) In strict accordance with the porcelain ball loading construction drawings, the construction must be reviewed after completion.

(4) Measure the height of the remaining space, calculate the volume of the remaining space and the amount of ceramic balls required.

(5) After the completion of the installation, the whole construction should be carefully reviewed.

1. To prevent defects such as pores and cracks, the rust, scale, oil and debris on the sides of the weld bevel must be removed and kept clean and dry before welding.

2. Titanium calcium type should be dried at 150 ° C for 1 hour, low hydrogen type should be dried at 200-250 ° C for 1 hour.

3. It can’t be heated repeatedly. Repeatedly heated will decompose the carbide, then decrease the corrosion resistance and the mechanical function, and the post-weld hardenability will be increased, then it’ll be easier to occur crack.

4. When use low-hydrogen electrode to weld, it is necessary to perform preheating above 300 °C and slow cooling at 700 °C after welding. If the weldment can’t be post-weld heat treated, you should use a chrome-nickel stainless steel electrode as weldmen instead of  low-hydrogen electrode.

5. The end of the weld should be filled. For multi-pass welding, the previous weld slag should be removed and the inter-layer temperature of the weld should be measured and recorded before the next weld. And the Interlayer temperature should be controlled at 100~250°C.

1.Bending die selection
Bending(China sheet metal processing) molds are divided into standard molds and special bending molds according to the bending process. Under standard bending conditions (right-angle and non-right-angle bending), standard molds are usually used for bending, and special molds are used for bending some special structural parts (such as step bending, pressing dead edges, etc.). In addition, when bending different thickness sheets, the opening dimension “V” of the die under bending is selected differently. Generally, the size of the “V” -shaped slot opening is 6-10 times the thickness of the plate (0.5 ~ 2.6mm is 6t, 3 ~ 8mm is 8t, 9 ~ 10mm is 10t, and 12mm is 12t). When the plate is thin, the orientation is chosen to be a small number, and when the plate is thick, the orientation is chosen to be a large number. For example: when bending a 2mm plate, a 12mmV slot can be used. The standard bending angle is generally not less than 90 degrees, and the sharp angle of the upper and lower dies of the standard bending machine is usually 88 degrees. In the case of non-standard bending, different upper mold shapes can be selected to bend the sheet at different angles and shapes. For special shaped sheet metal parts, special bending molds can be selected for forming and bending.

2. Segmentation of the mold
Generally, the standard length of the bending machine mold is 835mm. In principle, it can only bend large-size work. If the mold is divided into small sections of different lengths, and freely combined through different mold lengths, it can be convenient to bend box-shaped workpieces or boxes of different lengths. In the industry, the segmentation of the bending mold has a standard segmentation size, such as: standard segmentation 835 segments: 100 (left ear), 10, 15, 20, 40, 50, 200, 300, 100 (right ear) = 835mm. Of course, it can also be divided according to user requirements.

3. Calculation of bending force If we want to bend a relatively large and thick plate, we must first understand the required bending tonnage force. Then we can calculate the tonnage required for bending (recommended that the pressure required for bending of the workpiece is within 80% of the rated tonnage of the equipment). Through calculation, we can also determine the tonnage required for bending. The choice also affects the bending force.
