Greer to set a hearing next month to talk about unfreezing more of the divorcing couple’s assets for Linda’s use. Hulk Hogan’s attorney said they wanted to first see some proof from Linda’s attorneys that the she is really broke. “They have to tell me why she’s out of money. They have to show me in bank statements,” said Hulk’s attorey Ann Loughridge Kerr. You can read more about this at TampaBay.com.

— A representative from Estrada management sent in word that recently released WWE superstar Armando Estrada is now taking bookings at BookArmando@Yahoo.com.

— Last week WWE changed up their taping schedule by taping ECW on Monday night before RAW and taping 2 weeks of SmackDown on Tuesday. Looking at WWE’s upcoming live events schedule, it appears this will be the new routine. With the company looking to cut costs, broadcasting a taped ECW show and running SmackDown tapings every other week will accomplish that.

NEW SPOILERS: Current Plans For The Title Matches At WrestleMania XXV **MUST READ**

Alfonso Castillo of Newsday.com has just posted some highlights from a roundtable discussion he took part in with “The Wrestler” star Mickey Rourke. Here are some highlights:

On whether he tried to achieve the look of a certain wrestler:

“Yeah, like Lex Luger. And then when we Googled him, we were surprised to see how he ended up.”

On meeting Roddy Piper at a screening:

“He went on to pay us like highest compliments that we could wish for. And actually he got a little emotional about it. And it was kind of like, it was hard holding this guy and hearing him and talking back to him and understanding where he’s been – the journey that he’s been on and all the others that were like him. Because when your time has come and gone and that’s the only thing you know, you can’t go and be a godd— bus boy somewhere. You just can’t do it. And the options aren’t a lot. And it’s not very pretty.”

On what wrestlers he became close with during the movie:

“Mainly, Dwayne Johnson’s uncle. His name is Afa. He was one of the Wild Samoans back in the 80s. And I talked to The Rock the other day I told him, ‘We’re sending you [the movie] and we want to hear what you have to say, too.’ And I didn’t know it was his uncle. All the Samoans say they’re related to each other. I thought when Afa’s going on about his ‘nephew,’ ‘Yeah, every Samoan is related to Dwayne Johnson.’ And they are related. And when he spoke very fondly of him, it was like, ‘Wow.’

On learning to wrestle:

“We had choreographed the wrestling matches pretty basically [with moves] that any half-assed athlete could do. And then what started to happen after about like two and a half months was, one of the guys was very gymnastically inclined. He, like, got bored and started doing these f—ing moves. And I thought, ‘Wow. Man, I want to do that.’ So I’d go in on Sundays with him alone and do it and not tell Darren. And so what I said was, ‘I want to nail three or four f—ing moves that nobody could do.’ And I got so hurt. I had three MRI’s in two months. I’ve never flipped over in my life – like done back flip and a scissors into the ring. And I couldn’t do it. Weeks would go by and I couldn’t do it. And then you finally… If you work hard enough at anything in your life, you’re going to f—ing do it.”

Rourke also talks about similarities between his life and that of his character in “The Wrestler,” and his intense training regimen to look transform into a pro wrestler.

* RAW Superstar RELEASED, TAKER’s WM25 Opponent & KURT ANGLE Returning to WwE?!

— WWE did not air a follow-up vignette featuring a new mysterious character on last week’s episode of SmackDown, who is of course WWE developmental wrestler Hade Vansen. It was no accident, as the character has already been scrapped, reports PWInsider.com.

WWE originally had plans for Vansen to be involved in an angle with Undertaker. Following the initial promo on the 12/12 SmackDown, Vince McMahon pulled the plug on the proposed angle. McMahon doesn’t want new talent from developmental getting involved in major angles before they can be tested. I believe Vansen has yet to even work a single match before a WWE crowd, including dark matches and house show events.

SmackDown writer Michael Hayes brainstormed the character as he wanted a new opponent for Undertaker to work with. As a result of McMahon’s decision, two other characters planned for the storyline have been dropped as well.

Kevin Thorn and the large, masked WWE developmental wrestler Black Pain were going to be associated with the Vansen character in some form. Both Thorn and Black Pain were brought to last week’s television tapings and informed their new characters and direction were being scrapped.

WWE’s original plans called for the creation of a dark character with cult-esque overtones, similar to TNA wrestler Christopher Daniels’ former “Fallen Angel” persona.

Vansen was signed to a WWE developmental deal in May 2007 following a tryout during a European tour. He missed most of the past year following a knee injury, and returned to action a few weeks ago at Florida Championship Wrestling. Black Pain was signed to a developmental deal earlier this year out of the World Wrestling Council promotion in Puerto Rico. Thorn has not appeared on WWE television in over a year. In the meantime, he’s been appearing on Florida Championship Wrestling shows every now and then.

— Conspicuous by her absence tonight on Raw was ring announcer Lilian Garcia. SmackDown ring announcer Justin Roberts filled in for her on the show with no explanation given via commentary. Not to worry Lilian fans, she simply had the night off.

Two weeks ago, Lilian posted her WWE schedule on her MySpace account (www.myspace.com/liliangarcia) for the end of the year and through February. The only date left off the schedule was for tonight’s Raw in Toronto, so her night off was planned well ahead of time and it was not a sudden decision.

For what it’s worth, she usually takes a vacation around the winter holidays, so that could explain her absence from tonight’s show. Additionally, she hasn’t missed a single Raw or pay-per-view appearance since June 2007 when she was taking time off to recover from a skiing injury in which she tore the ACL in her right knee.

Lilian will be back handling her regular ring announcing duties at next Monday’s Raw taping in Manchester, New Hampshire.

— John Bradshaw Layfield’s wife, Meredith Whitney, has been honored with a powerful nomination. She is being considered for the title of CNBC’s Power Lunch “Power Player” of the Year. People can vote for Whitney at CNBC.com.

See video of Lilian getting thrown in a bowl of pudding (>>)

— Current UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar will be returning to his roots as he is scheduled to make an appearance at tonight’s Ohio Valley Wrestling show in Louisville, Kentucky. He will be doing a special autograph meet & greet during his return to the Davis Arena. Visit www.OVWrestling.com for more information.

— Recently released WWE star Gene Snitsky resurfaced at a WWC show in Puerto Rico over the weekend. He lost to Eugene. Former ECW stars Elijah Burke & Armando Estrada also teamed up on the show, losing to a tag team called Thunder & Lightning. Click here for full results from the event.

— Raven, TNA wrestler Hernandez, and Super Parka are among the wrestlers scheduled to appear at this Saturday’s Fog City Wrestling event oin San Francisco, California at the DNA Lounge. For more information on the show, visit www.FogCityWrestling.com.

Jim Ross has posted his latest blog entry, which you can read at JRsBarBQ.com. Some highlights:

– Trish at WrestleMania: Lots of speculation out there in the internet world about Trish Stratus wrestling Beth Phoenix at WM25 including an interview that the lovely, Canadian lass made a few days ago. Personally, I have zero knowledge of such a match but would love to see Trish at WM25 or any other time for that matter even though it would seem the Raw announcers would get to call that match. I can only suggest to stay tuned to Monday Night Raw as I do for any new developments. As a fan, it feels like a good pairing (no pun intended) if it ends up going that way.

– WWE’s “PG” Programming:Enough of the emails on how much some “HATE” the fact that the WWE is now rated PG. First of all, hate is a strong word to use and unfortunately it is used to much in our society today. Think about this for a second. The WWE has pulled back on some elements of their content to make it more family friendly but many aspects of the shows will still remain edgy. Nonetheless we are still talking about a TV show here and if a viewer “hates” a TV show SO much because of what they perceive to be philosophical changes then why doesn’t one simply eliminate the anguish and watch something else on the tube? No, I don’t want any wrestling show to lose viewers but there is no reason to watch any thing on television and then bitch and moan about it every week. Or am I missing something?

– Jesse Ventura: How did I like working with Jesse Ventura? The answer is, fine. I am sure I wasn’t his favorite guy to work with nor was he mine but Jesse was extremely bright and witty and certainly understood the wrestling business. The Body never lacked for an opinion and had a gift for being controversial. He was never a big preparation freak but neither is Jerry Lawler who is still at his post on the WWE’s #1 TV show. I wish I had Ventura’s representation when I was at WCW and when Jesse got his “big money” with a very limited schedule but that was my fault and, hand it to Ventura, he always seemed to do well in the money department.

– Divas in Playboy: All of the sudden there is all this talk about whether or not the WWE will have a Diva in Playboy prior to Wrestlemania. First of all, I do not know. I do seriously doubt it, however. I am more interested in the WM25 card than I am about who may be “tastefully nude” in Playboy Magazine.

RAW Report 4/20/09 London, UK

January 31, 2021 | News | No Comments

RAW this week starts with music and pyro.

Jericho comes out in a suit and tie. He says for the past year he’s felt like a castaway. An honest man on an island surrounded by liars and parasites, the way he feels being surrounded by the fans. But he won’t feel that way any longer as he was drafted to SD! and gets to leave RAW. He’s not surprised the fans are happy, they never appreciated him. While the fans wallow in their deceitfulness, Jericho goes on to bigger and better pastures. Things will go down hill and will be begging him to come back, but he won’t. He won’t ever come back. Steamboat’s music and he comes out in a suit sans tie. Jericho stakes his head as Steamboat enters the ring. Steamboat looks pissed. He tells Jericho he’s wrong. This audience, the wee Universe isn’t unappreciative. WM week they showed him more love than he could dream of. Probably the greatest moment in his wrestling career. Jericho wants appreciation and the fan won’t give it? He will. “Thank you.” Jericho asks what he means. Steamboat says Jericho brought back a passion he didn’t know he had. He wanted to perform and be proud of what he accomplished. He never thought he’d be at WM or on RAW. But if not for Jericho he’d have not been there. So he thanks Jericho. Steamboat about to leave and Jericho stopped him ad said he wasn’t there to thank him but to bask in the cheer of the fans one more time. Jericho tells Steamboat he’s finished and no one cares about him any more. His friends haven’t been seen or heard from since Jericho destroyed them at WM. Just because the fans cheered him for 27 on RAW that he thinks he’s still got it. “You’ve still got it!” from the fans. Jericho tells Steamboat and the fans their delusional. It’s time for him to put Steamboat and his friends out of their misery. He wants a one on one with Steamboat at Backlash. He wants to know if Steamboat will accept but Cena’s music hits and he comes out to the ring. Jericho tells Cena to stop, he knows Cena’s schtick. He’s going to pander to Steamboat. It’s his last night on RAW and he doesn’t have to listen to Cena any longer. He’s finished with Cena, Steamboat and the fans on RAW. His last thing to do on RAW is to walk out on Cena. Jericho leaves the ring to the fans singing, “… hey, hey, hey, goodbye!” Half way up the ramp Steamboat accepts Jericho’s challenge. Cena says he’s not there to stand up for Steamboat, he can do just fine. Cena’s there to say Vicki’s not there tonight. Edge won’t be competing tonight. Cena has to compete tonight.
