A knife attacker on Friday stabbed two people at Amsterdam’s Central Station before being shot by police in a suspected terror attack, Dutch police said.

The suspect was identified late on Friday evening as a 19-year-old Afghan man with a German residency permit.

"We are seriously taking into account that there was a terrorist motive," Frans Zuiderhoek, Amsterdam police spokesman, told AFP.

Witnesses described scenes of panic earlier as gunshots sounded and thousands of commuters and tourists were evacuated from the rail terminus shortly after midday.

"Around 12.10 a man in the west side tunnel of Amsterdam Central Station stabbed two other people and directly after that he was shot by the police," another police spokesman Rob van der Veen said, adding terrorism was not being ruled out by investigators.

"The two people are very badly injured, and they were brought to the hospital," he said.

"We are looking at all scenarios, also the worst scenario, which is terrorism."

One witness said he saw a young man "stumble" into his flower shop at the station with a bleeding wound to his hand.

"Shortly afterwards I heard some shots and I know something has gone badly wrong," Richard Snelders told the ANP news agency. A while later he saw another man lying on the ground nearby, he said.

"The first thing that comes up in your mind is that it’s a terror attack. After all, you are at Amsterdam Central Station. There was a lot of panic," Snelders said.

Police quickly arrived at the scene with video images showing police ordering the suspect in English to "stay down" after he had been shot.

"It happened really quickly," Mr Snelders said.

Images posted on social media showed security guards ushering passengers towards exits and paramedics arriving at the scene with stretchers.

Mr Zuiderhoek said the knifeman’s condition was not life-threatening, but that he had been shot in the lower body.

"At this moment he is under police custody in hospital. He is being questioned about his motive," Mr Zuiderhoek added.

Dutch police were also in close contact with their German counterparts in regards to the suspect’s background, he added.

Initially, police said that the station – located in the Dutch capital’s historic canal-ringed city centre – had been evacuated and closed off to all rail traffic.

However, police shortly afterwards issued an update to say there was "no talk" of a complete evacuation and that only two platforms had been closed off to passengers.

A special police department opened a routine probe into why police shot the man.

The Netherlands has so far been spared from the spate of terror attacks which have rocked its closest European neighbours in the past few years.

But amid reports that people linked to those attacks may have crossed into the country, senior Dutch security and intelligence officials have warned of an elevated risk.

Police declined to speculate on the reasons for Friday’s incident, but the Afghan Taliban in a statement Thursday called for attacks on Dutch troops following plans by Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders to stage a Prophet Mohammed cartoon competition in the Dutch parliament.

The plan angered Muslims and sparked protests before Mr Wilders, who received several death threats, announced he was cancelling the competition, saying he wanted to "avoid the risk of making people victims of Islamist violence".

About 250,000 people travel through Central Station every day, according to statistics provided by the Amsterdam.info travel guide.

The bodies of a wealthy British businessman and his Thai wife have been recovered near their luxury home in northern Thailand after they were allegedly murdered in a contract killing ordered by the woman’s brother, the police confirmed on Tuesday.

Alan Hogg, 64, originally from Edinburgh, was reportedly shot next to the couple’s duck coop and his wife Nott Suddaen, 61, bludgeoned to death with a wrench beside the garage of their three-storey house in the northern province of Phrae.

Three men, including the alleged mastermind and Mrs Hogg’s older brother, Warut Satchakit, 63, have been charged with premeditated murder.

The couple’s disappearance last Thursday sparked a massive police search involving sniffer dogs and specialist divers after blood was found smeared in a sink and on the walls of their swimming pool changing room.

On Tuesday morning the authorities used an excavator to dig deep into a freshly dug patch of land on the Hoggs’ sprawling 32-acre property.

“We have found the bodies of the couple, they are buried by the canal,” Thai Police Major General Sanpat Prabpudsa confirmed to The Telegraph. The bodies had been hidden in graves two metres deep.

The police had earlier said they suspected the case was connected to a “long-standing conflict within the family.”

Mr Warut was initially arrested after CCTV showed him entering the couple’s gated property and leaving in their new white Ford Ranger pick-up truck, which was sold to a Lao businessman the day after they were reported missing.

It was recovered on Monday 300 miles away in Ayutthaya near the capital, Bangkok.

Mr Warut was charged with theft but denied any involvement in their disappearance and was released on a £2,400 bail, after which he briefly vanished.

According to the Bangkok Post, Mr Warut was caught again on Tuesday. He still denies the charges, but his alleged accomplices Pia Khamsai, 63, and Kittipong Khamwan, 24, claimed he paid them 50,000 Baht (£1,175) to carry out the double murder.

During questioning they also revealed where the bodies were buried. Next of kin have been informed.

The Post reported that Mr Pia had confessed to shooting Mr Hogg in the chest when he went to feed his ducks. Mr Kittipong then allegedly held Mrs Hogg while Mr Warut hit her on the head with a wrench he took from the garage. The three suspects used a farming hoe to dig the grave.

The couple were reported missing by a friend last Thursday, two days after they had been due to meet them in the city of Chiang Mai.

Their daughter Robyn Hogg, 31, a production assistant, flew to Thailand from the UK after being alerted to her parents’ disappearance.

Mr Hogg, who has links with several UK businesses, is described on Companies House as an offshore construction manager. He moved to Thailand several years ago after working as an engineer in Australia.

He was born in Zambia and married in 1986 in Edinburgh, where his mother and brother still live.

The police said that the Hoggs had planned to live in Spain but Mr Warut had persuaded his younger sister and her husband to move instead to Thailand to be close to family.

Officers are investigating reports that Mr Hogg and his brother-in-law, who is said to have had money problems, did not get along.

Neighbours described Mrs Hogg as “the most beautiful woman in town” and said Mr Hogg was “very friendly” and often helped them. They told local media he was a millionaire.

He and his wife were known to rear ducks, geese and cattle on their property, and made frequent and long trips to Australia.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A Minnesota wrestler is achieving life goals both on and off the mat.

It’s pretty remarkable, considering Ben Cousins has autism and weighed nearly 200 pounds in 5th grade.

But he got in shape, went out for wrestling, and qualified for the state tournament as a senior at Bloomington Kennedy, and his wrestling career didn’t end there. View/Continue reading at minnesota.cbslocal.com

In a follow-up to the recent rumors of Ronda Rousey vs. Cris Cyborg at WrestleMania 35, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter seems to confirm that WWE has no such plans to make that happen. According to their report, one person in the company who would know about such negotiations said that it has never even been brought up to Rousey and wouldn’t happen without her support and approval. They also feel that it is not something she would even want to do, which would seem to kill the rumor dead in its tracks.

According to the @WrestleVotes official Twitter account, WWE made a strong attempt to get Pentagon Jr. signed under contract but he was simply not available. However, when he is permitted to sign a new deal with another promotion, WWE will make another attempt to sign him.

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville has not wrestled a single match in nearly a year. The British high-flyer requested his released from WWE last year, but the company did not grant his request until earlier this summer. Neville is reportedly free and clear to work wherever he desire now, but the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that he had been telling promoters that he would be unable to work future shows due to legal issues. Lately, he has gone completely “off the grid” and has not been speaking with any promotions, wrestlers, or anyone who has attempted to reach out to him. It was also noted that Will Ospreay was pushing for a match against Neville at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom event in January, but that may be off the table now.
205 Live is a show that has only one championship for the stars of the series to fight for. Although plenty of 205 Live wrestlers have been worthy contenders for the Cruiserweight Championship, fans have been wondering why the tag teams on the show don’t have their own set of championships. According to Cageside Seats and BeltFanDan, who has broken stories about upcoming titles in the past, WWE did commission designs for Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships and photos of those designs were even shared online earlier this year. However, the Twitter user has just confirmed that WWE decided to scrap all plans to introduce the titles due to how the 205 Live brand has been performing all year long.

Arguably one of the most impressive performers included in a wide range of talented women in this year’s Mae Young Classic tournament has been Hiroyo Matsumoto. The Japanese wrestler stepped into a WWE ring for the very first time in her career during the Mae Young Classic show last night, and she was able to defeat Rachel Evers to move on to the second round. After her win, she took part in a brief interview backstage and said that she is not finished dominating the competition in this year’s Mae Young Classic tournament before stating her plans to invade NXT next. WWE already signed Mia Yim due to her performance in this year’s tournament. Perhaps Matsumoto could be joining the company soon as well.

Did you miss SmackDown Live last night? Don’t worry. WWE counted down the top 10 moments from the show to catch you up to speed with the blue brand ahead of this weekend’s Super Show-Down in Melbourne, Australia.

As we all know by now, 16-time World Champion John Cena returned to in-ring action for WWE at this past Saturday’s Super Show-Down Event where he teamed up with Bobby Lashley to defeat Elias & Kevin Owens. Cena only worked the final moments of the match when he made the hot tag and didn’t take any bumps. Aside from John Cena returning to in-ring action at this past Saturday’s Super Show-Down Event, he also debuted a new hair-do and a new look. It is being said that John Cena has the new look because of his upcoming movie, Project X, which he has been filming in China with big screen icon Jackie Chan.
Cena’s new look drew a lot of comparisons to JBL, which he commented about on Twitter, as seen below:

Thank you ???? #WWESSD @WWE @WWEUniverse for an amazing evening. Thank you @JCLayfield for the grooming tips. Thank you ???? @EyeOfJackieChan for the ????!

Just recently, Cena posted a photo on his Instagram of Homer Simpson checking out his new hair in the mirror. Cena only posts photos on his Instagram without ever giving context to the meaning, although this particular one is pretty clear, as seen below:

WWE is pulling out all the stops to commemorate the upcoming 1,000 episode of SmackDown this Tuesday. In addition to bringing back Rey Mysterio for not one but two matches, WWE is advertising what is rumored to be a dark match between Women’s Champ Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair right before their last-woman-standing match at Evolution.
In that spirit, WWE on Saturday posted a video mashup of today’s stars with the classic Attitude Era intros. Here’s a look at the interesting combination of today and the past:
