Mr. Nick’s Notes: Monday Night RAW Edition

July 2, 2020 | News | No Comments

06/24/2019 Live from Everett Washington
RAW starts with the Universal Champion Seth freakin Rollins.
I’ll never get over how WWE uses still photos for their ppv recaps.

The Man Becky Lynch interrupts Seth which is kinda cute. Seth calls he the best back-up on the planet.
Lacey Evans and Baron Corbin try to jump Seth and Becky but they fight them off. Baron calls out Seth for being less of a man (yeah okay) for having Becky as back-up. Nobody is buying this malarky. Obviously this becomes a mixed tag match for Extreme Rules. Blah. Winners take all stipulation? Still blah.
8-man elimination tag team match.
Bryan & Rowan/The Revival v The New Day(Woods & Big E)/The Usos
It’s the first time the RAW and Smackdown Tag Champs have ever teamed up…well yeah, when is the last time they’ve had an 8-man tag match?

Looks like their setting up a Tag Champions rivalry here. Maybe a unification of the tag belts again? Not against that, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.
Xavier Woods eliminated Daniel Bryan, then was quickly eliminated by The Revival. This is now just a tag match between The Revival and the Usos.
Pretty unique finish to this one. The tag division is strong. Usos are always money.

They show Miz walking to the ring…but in the background the witch from Firefly Funhouse is seen watching him…it’s happening…
MizTV with special guests the 7 time (already?) 24/7 Champion R-Truth along with Carmella. Don’t worry the rules are suspended during the interview.
Gotta respect R-Truth for getting this title over. I also love that he calls it the 24/7 European Television Championship. He’s the best man for this job.
Drake Maverick comes out and says R-Truth ruined his life after winning the title at his wedding. They haven’t even been able to consummate the wedding. The crowd chanted “Consummation” haha this is great!
R-Truth beats Maverick in like 10 seconds and the race for the 24/7 title begins again after a few chances at the title on the ring. Drake Maverick is in the ring looking pretty distraught. Poor little guy…
2 on 1 handicap match Roman Reigns v Drew McIntyre & Shane McMahon.
I should have known better than to think this was over after last night. Of course Drew and Shane work over Roman here. Hitting move after move after move.
HOLY $#&% THE UNDERTAKER SHOWS UP OUT OF NOWHERE! He takes out Shane and Drew and stands tall. I legit lost it at home. Did not expect that at all! Wicked!
You know what will kill the crowd after an appearance by The Undertaker? A Tug of War between Strowman and Lashley.
Oh boy, they show Strowman pulling a semi truck to get ready. Then show Lashley breaking a rope. Which one is more lame. This ends up with Lashley just attacking Strowman with the rope. What’s next? The Atlas stones?
AJ Styles cuts his backstage interview short to confront a dancing Gallows & Anderson for not being “The Gallows & Anderson he knew in Japan”. I really hope Bullet Club is going to be okay. I mean The Club. I hope The Club is going to be okay. THE (NOT BULLET) CLUB.
Gallows & Anderson v The Viking Raiders
Anderson blows another great match by showboating too much. The Viking Raiders pick up the win. AJ isn’t happy. The Club is fine…
HEATH SLATER WINS THE 27/7 TITLE!!
R-Truth wins it back right after making him the 8 time champion!
Then Cedric Alexander hits his finish on Truth and becomes the 24/7 Champion!
EC3 catches Cedric as he exits the ring and pins him to become the 24/7 Champion!
EC3 heads up the ramp and Carmella steals the title as R-Truth rolls him up to become the 9 time 24/7 Champion!
That was pretty fun!
WWE World Heavyweight Champion Kofi Kingston v Sami Zayn w/Kevin Owens
But first an impromptu Sami and Kevin show. As they call Kofi a paper champion. Kofi calls them out for having a love/hate relationship. Decent back and forth. I love that Kofi calls him Sam Zayn.
What a match between these two. Kofi continues to find a way to win great matches.
Kevin Owens get on the mic and challenges Kofi to a match. An exhausted Kofi agrees for some reason.
Kofi wins by beating a 10 count no one in the arena was paying attention to including the commentary team who were as shocked as the viewers.
Samoa Joe attacks Kofi as he heads up the ramp. Then puts him to sleep with the Coquina Clutch. Where the heck are Woods and Big E during all this?
Naomi v Alexa Bliss w/Nikki Cross
Alexa Bliss wins this short match after Naomi takes out Nikki Cross. Then Alexa wants Nikki to attack Naomi but she hesitates and Natalya comes out. Ring the bell, this is a tag match now.
Alexa Bliss gets the win after Nikki Cross does all the work. Nikki doesn’t care, she’s just happy to have a friend.
AJ Styles v US Champion Ricochet
Glad to see AJ back on tv after injury. This should be fun.
Ricochet is the new US Champion and he has a new t-shirt. He has officially arrived. Now he gets to take on AJ Styles. Quite a big 24 hours.
Anderson & Gallows make their way to ringside and try to help AJ but he stops that quickly and kicks them out of ringside. The Club is fine…
The match restarts and I’m ready to be sports entertained. AJ gets cut somehow during this hard hitting match. Both guys working a little stiff here I think.
The best part of this match is how it’s kind of a dream match. AJ Styles was pulling off an innovative wrestling style just like Ricochet is doing now. Very sports entertained tonight.
AJ Styles picks up a win with a phenomenal forearm and now has a win over the new US Champion. I look forward to more matches from these two. Wow. What a way to end RAW this week.
Before I sign off, shout out to the Seattle Seahawks fan in the 4th row facing the hard cam who stood the whole show holding up his Seahawks scarf like a championship belt. Way to show us how big your football fandom is. He knows football is fake right?

The league of the European champions started! Yesterday the first round of PlusLiga came to the end. Let’s see, how particular teams got through this.

Siatkarz Wielun – Skra Belchatow 1:3  (19:25, 21:25, 25:20, 23:25)
It was an inauguration of the season. David against Goliat. Although Skra run on the court without greatests stars like Wlazly, Winiarski or Antiga, they seemed to be very confident and it wasn’t nothing suprising. Jakub Novotny, another player who has got some health problems, also didn’t appear during the game. Instead of him, young and unexperienced Milosz Hebda got his chance (it was quite controversial, because polish federacion had to broke their rule to let Hebda play). He got 11 points. Match was interesting in the third set, when the alternates of Wielun was taken by their coach. Zajder and Blonski showed really good game and it helped Wielun to won this set. The last part of the game was also exciting, but in the end, Skra did better and took all three points.

MVP: Daniel Plinski (middle blocker)

ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle – Delecta Bydgoszcz 2:3 (25:15, 21:25, 25:22, 22:25, 13:15)
It was definietely the most exciting match of the weekend. Zaksa was the favourite and it looked like they were going to won this match 3:1. But we have to remember, that Delecta got some really good players and they had no intention to gave up. After really nice fight, they won fourth set and we had a tie break. It was the great show of spikers, gold medalist from last European Championships – Jakub Jarosz and Piotr Gruszka. The second one of them got a little injury in the end of the match but it is not very dangerous thing. Tie break bring to polish fans a lot of emotions, but after all, more satisfactied team was Delecta Bydgoszcz.

MVP: Jakub Jarosz

Jastrzebski Wegiel – AZS Poltechnika Warszawska 3:0 (25:19, 25:23, 25:21)
It was debiut of Pawel Abramov as Jastrzebski’s player and Radoslaw Panas as a head coach of AZS (previously he had got the team from Czestochowa). Russian reciever got 14 points (but the best in JW was Australian spiker, Igor Yudin 19 points). Hosts of the game hadn’t got any problems with beat their rival. It’s a big dissapointment for fans from the capital.

MVP: Benjamin Hardy (reciever)

Jadar Radom – Asseco Resovia Rzeszow  0:3 (21:25, 18:25, 18:25)

It was meeting of two quite new teams. Jadar Radom, which got well in pre-season tournaments, couldn’t stop their rivals. Althougt, Radom started this match really ambitiously (especally in defence), Resovia dominated all the way. They didn’t let Jadar to have their lead for a long time and they were playing better and better. Radom didn’t give up for two sets, but in the end of this, Marcin Wika served very well and got three aces. It didn’t motivate Jadar to fight and the last part was just a formality. Asseco Resovia got three points and went back to Rzeszow.

MVP – Marcin Wika

AZS Czestochowa – AZS Olsztyn (25:13, 25:22, 25:18)
It was the most dissapointing game of all. Everybody expected well fight of two youg teams. At the beginning, game was pretty nice and ball didn’t fell on the court quickly. After first technical time, AZS Olsztyn got worse and Czestochowa could build a big distance. They won this set and the rest of the match was similar. The strongest weapon of Czestochowa was for sure their serve. They got 13 aces (include Bartosz Janeczek with 7 aces) during only three sets! In addition, serves of the other players was difficult enough to win this game quickly. AZS Olsztyn has reasons to worry. In the next week, they are meeting Siatkarz Wielun.

MVP – Bartosz Janeczek

Hello AW Universe,
Well, it’s that special time of year. For ordinary people, January can be a bit of a slog, with the post-Christmas glow fading fast but for wrestling fans, it’s a fantastic time because it means that, arguably, the most exciting PPV on the WWE schedule is jut around the corner, Royal Rumble.
Now it’s usually the match itself that garners the most excitement, but this year’s undercard is starting to fill out nicely, with a Universal title match between “The Fiend” and Daniel Bryan and a Raw Women’s title match between Becky Lynch and Asuka already both booked.

And it seems that the question as to who will be challenging Brock Lesnar for his WWE Championship at the event will be answered tonight on the first episode of Monday Night Raw of 2020, as The Beast has already been announced to appear.
It’s likely that this is to setup the feud with whoever the #1 Contender is going to be. so, who will face Brock Lesnar for his WWE Championship at Minute Maid Park in Houston on January 26th?
Here are some of the likely candidates.
Rey Mysterio

Mysterio is booked to face Andrade in a rematch for the United States Championship that he dropped to only two weeks ago. Andrade seems to be getting a pretty legitimate push, so it’s unlikely that he’s going to drop the title back to Rey. Mysterio obviously played a large role in Lesnar’s last feud– first with Rey himself and then the ill-fated Cain Velasquez program– so it could be easy to just rollout a re-tread of if this match as a placeholder feud until WrestleMania 35. Lesnar clearly has a lot of respect for the veteran, and therefore would put time and effort into another match, something that can be an issue for Brock depending on his opponent.
Samoa Joe

He’s back from injury and from behind the announcer’s table to team with Kevin Owens to take a stand against Seth Rollins and The Authors of Pain, so there might be some other longterm booking going on there. But Samoa Joe is such a badass, and that was featured when Joe first stood up to the AOP two weeks ago. “Imma tell you something right now; if I get up, it’s not to move. If I get up, it’s both your asses.” He delivered that line first with nonchalant arrogance, then with measured aggression. The man is perfect on the mic and in the ring, so a Samoa Joe/Paul Heyman promo feud alone leading up to a championship match would be sublime.

Aleister Black

This one might seem farfetched, but I see Aleister Black at the Rumble going one of two ways: he enters the Rumble match and dominates, leading the match with the most eliminations, or he knocks on Lesnar’s door and picks the biggest fight of his young career.
Now, Lesnar hasn’t seemed particularly interested in putting over, let alone wrestling, younger talent (see: WrestleMania 32 match against Jon Moxley Dean Ambrose). But Black is a unique talent who might be able to win Lesnar over with his look and in-ring style. This would undoubtably be the freshest matchup for Lesnar in a very long time, and could be a fantastically-worked match if the effort is put in by the champion.
Fast-Count

Tonight’s Monday Night Raw is also going to feature a Triple Threat match for the Raw Tag Team Championship, with The Viking Raiders defending against The Street Profits and Gallows & Anderson. There seems to a title change coming here, and as much as it would be cool to see the Street Profits get that gold– Montez Ford is the next biggest upcoming star– it might make more sense to have the World’s Greatest Tag Team in Gallows & Anderson steal the titles now and build a longer-term feud with the Street Profits.
What’s next for AJ Styles and Randy Orton after that fantastic swerve by Orton last week? Orton’s a master, and every time the chatter of him getting too old or too bored to stick around in WWE, he pulls off something like this. The fact that it’s AJ Styles who’s going to be the heel to clap back at him is just too good to be true.
Drew McIntyre’s new gimmick is fire. Give this guy all the personality and have him melt hearts and break bones on his way to a World title.
What’s the fallout from the nightmare wedding last week? Does Rusev finally get to move on now that Liv Morgan is involved, or is going to be riding this wave of dysfunction all the way to ‘Mania?

The first Raw of 2020 is setting up to be a very good episode! It all goes down tonight.

Siberian battle for Novosibirsk

July 2, 2020 | News | No Comments

Kazan and Belgorod need only one hour to win again their opponents. In the fight for the third place in Superleague Novosibirsk met Fakel.

Siberian battle has changed into one team show, Novosibirsk did not allow anything to Fakel. Kazan is still leading Russian Superleague, after the lost with Dynamo in the last round Kazan played at home with 11th Ekaterinburg. Kazan receive 3 points after straight win. Middleblocker of Kazan A. Bogomolov made 6 blocks in this game.

Also second Belgorod gained easy points with Tyumen. 5th Dynamo Moscow won the last six games and did not want to give any points to Iskra Odintsovo. However without Dante Dynamo could not stop good playing Iskra. J. Schops was again the leader of Iskra, German opposite scored 26 points. Yaroslavl and Ufa had to fight hard at home to receive two points from tiebreak.

Three matches have been finalized for tomorrow’s second Wrestle Kingdom 14 event.

The main event will be IWGP Heavyweight champion Kazuchika Okada facing new IWGP Intercontinental champion Tetsuya Naito. After Okada successfully defended his title against Kota Ibushi in tonight’s main event, Naito came out and said he’d be leaving tomorrow with both belts.

Jay White and Kota Ibushi, who lost their respective matches tonight, will now face each other on tomorrow’s show.

Jon Moxley, who defeated Lance Archer tonight to win back the IWGP United States title, will now face Juice Robinson tomorrow with the title on the line.
