— As noted before, Kevin Owens was revealed to be the latest wrestler who made his intentions of not wanting to go to Saudi Arabia known to management and as a result, will not be booked on the card. John Pollock of Post Wrestling adds that Aleister Black is another name who is not going, though there was no specific reason given as to why he is not going.

— Daniel Bryan had already gone on record last year to say that he would not be traveling to Saudi Arabia and of course, Sami Zayn – who is of Syrian descent – has been kept off the lineup at the first two events and will not be there as well. You can likely add John Cena to that list as the latest on him was that he also refused last year and was subsequently replaced in the World Cup tournament.

— Roman Reigns, who had previously indicated that he too was not interested in participating, appears to have had a change of heart as he is booked to wrestle Shane McMahon at the event.

The Rattlesnake Stone Cold Steve Austin was a recent guest on the Dale Jr. Download where he and legendary Nascar driver Dale Earnhart J. talked all things pro-wrestling. In their discussion, Austin revealed some of his favorite stars to work with, including The Rock, and his legendary feud with Vince McMahon.

I loved working with The Rock. Wrestlemania 17 was a hell of a ride. And I loved working with Vince. Because the Vince feud transcended wrestling. For two years, it was water cooler talk. I don’t care what you did, at lunch you’d ask, ‘Hey man, did you see what Stone Cold and Vince did last night?’ And Vince was an awesome opponent because he feels this stuff as much as I do. He’s an animal. He’s one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met in my entire life. And I love the guy.

Austin would then name Bret Hart as the safest “worker” he’s ever shared a ring with, and expresses how much respect/trust he has for “The Hitman.”

I loved working with Bret Hart. There was so much trust and respect. And like I said the high profile matches I’ve had with The Rock, Undertaker, Triple H, Mankind, the list could be a mile long but if I’ve got to give you one guy, Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart. There was a trust and respect there from day one. He picked me as his opponent to come back for Survivor Series.

He also brought up their classic WrestleMania 13 bout, and explained a bit about the sanitary processes of blading in the 90s.

It’s the exclamation point on a great feud – it ended in a blood bath. It’s a very interesting feeling when you first push that blade into your head because there’s a crackle of the skin and you got to drag just a little bit. It’s like a rite of passage though. You’re expected to do it because you grew up seeing it and now you get a chance to do it. All of a sudden, it’s in the nineties, you’re trading blood with a lot of people. Some of these guys who are party animals…there’s always the guy who bites the open cut and spits the blood out, I was like ‘Holy s**t!’ Any night of the week, you could get staph infection.

Listen to the full interview, where Austin praises Mick Foley, and reveals how he adopted the cracking beer gimmick from the Sandman in ECW, here.

– Aleister Black may have found himself an opponent. Randy Orton took to Twitter to reply to a post regarding Black’s next challenger. “The Viper” also called out Finn Balor, noting he might make regaining the WWE Intercontinental Championship a priority of his. Check out Orton’s comments below.

– The latest update on Jason Jordan isn’t a great one. The longtime wrestling veteran is dealing with a neck injury and according to Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer, things do “not look good for a return” to WWE. Meltzer posted the following update on Jordan on Twitter when asked about his status by a fan.

— In a follow-up to a previous post about Los Angeles playing host to an upcoming WrestleMania, the city itself wants to host the 2021 edition of the PPV badly so that they can hold the event at the new 70,000+ seat Los Angeles Stadium in Hollywood Park. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the reason the city wants it in 2021 is because they are hosting the Super Bowl in 2022 and want to use WrestleMania as a test-run to work out whatever kinks may exist before running the NFL championship.

— WWE meanwhile wants to hold WrestleMania in 2022 – after the Super Bowl – so that they can see what sort of attendance the NFL announces before coming in a couple months later and publicly beating that number.

— According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, several members of the WWE creative team were up until nearly 430 AM this morning working on the upcoming Raw script.

— Meanwhile, those who were in attendance at this creative meeting are indicating that it was only focused on WWE Raw and that there has been no development yet on a Smackdown script. This has in turn surprised people internally in WWE as nobody is sure where the email blast promoting Eric Bischoff on Smackdown originated as nobody has even discussed what will be taking place on the Tuesday show.

In addition to WWE SmackDown LIVE (Preview Here), the “go-home” episode of WWE 205 Live will also premiere this evening on the WWE Network.

WWE.com released the following preview for tonight’s show:

Who will challenge Drew Gulak?

With SummerSlam only days away and his issues with Mike Kanellis behind him, General Manager Drake Maverick must decide who will challenge WWE Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak?

WWE 205 Live Preview: Full Details

Can anyone beat Drew Gulak?

Last week, Mike Kanellis nearly became the next challenger for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship in an Unsanctioned Match against WWE 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick. However, The Opportunist failed to claim victory, thus leaving Drew Gulak without an opponent for The Biggest Event of the Summer.

After his victory, Maverick declared that he likely wouldn’t continue to compete in the Cruiserweight division, but he would instead focus on his duties, namely finding the next challenger for the title.

As the champion awaits – ready to face anyone who dares step into the ring with him – how will Maverick determine who will challenge Gulak?

Chelsea Green is undergoing surgery for the injury she suffered during her SmackDown debut.

Green debuted on SmackDown last night but suffered a broken left wrist while facing Liv Morgan, Tamina, and Natalya in a fatal four-way Survivor Series qualifying match. Morgan pinned Tamina to get the win after Green was injured early on and plans for the match had to be adjusted.

In a tweet posted this morning, Green announced that she was heading into surgery: “Just like the rest of my career, I couldn’t have an easy debut! LOL, that just wouldn’t be fit for my wild journey. I’m headed into surgery now. I am beyond devastated but so excited to be a part of @WWE team SmackDown, when I get back!”

Green’s fiance Matt Cardona (formerly known as Zack Ryder in WWE) posted on Instagram last night: “Welp…tonight was bittersweet. I’ve seen her get told no by WWE…to getting hired…to doing nothing in NXT…to finally get a NXT match but breaking her wrist during it…to getting surgery, rehabbing, coming back and still doing nothing…to getting ‘called up’…to going back to NXT…to getting ‘called up’ again…to debuting on Raw but it was a taped episode and segment was cut…to doing nothing…to finally debuting on SmackDown tonight…but breaking her wrist and needing surgery again! JESUS! But @chelseaagreen is a fighter and she will come back again and be the STAR that she is destined to be. I love you.”

Last night was Green’s first match since the May 27 episode of NXT. She had been set to be called up for months prior to debuting last night.
