WWE SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Carmella recently appeared as a guest on Inside The Ropes recently. Featured below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On the SD! Live Women’s Championship Six-Pack Challenge Match being moved around on the WrestleMania 33 card due to fan support and whether or not it made a difference: “I’m on WrestleMania! I don’t care if I’m on the Kickoff show, it was just such a great opportunity to be a part of WrestleMania. It was my very first WrestleMania, and a lot of people say, ‘Oh, but you’re on the Kickoff’ it doesn’t matter, you’re still a part of WrestleMania. To me, there’s no difference if you’re on the Kickoff or the main show to me it’s all the same. Of course, the fans were in kind of an uproar when we were announced as the Kickoff, so it’s crazy the passion that they have.”

On James Ellsworth grabbing the Money In The Bank briefcase last year: “I was nervous for the match, regardless, it’s a dangerous, high-risk match to even be a part of. Aside from that, when I knew that was going to happen [Laughs] the fans reacted exactly how I expected them to. They were upset, and honestly, I thought it was great. People were talking about it. You had this first Money in the Bank Ladder Match for the women and it could be a regular [match], someone climbs to the top, grabs the contract, and that’s how it goes. But I thought this way was so much more exciting and so much more controversial. Everything I like to do is over the top and have people talking about it. Ever since I won that match that’s exactly what’s happened with my career. Everyone has been talking about me, whether they love me, whether they hate me, whether they love to hate me, I don’t really care, they’re talking about me.”

On defending her title against Asuka at WWE Money In The Bank tonight: “I’m not gonna lie. When I first found out I was like, ‘Wait a minute? She did nothing to deserve this opportunity,’ but Asuka is a force to be reckoned with, she is one of the most elite female Superstars I’ve ever seen in WWE. Her strikes, her kicks, her submissions, she’s so good, but she lost to Charlotte at WrestleMania, and I beat Charlotte Flair, twice, so that pretty much means I can beat Asuka. So, I know everybody is looking at the situation like I’m going to get my butt kicked and I’m going to drop the title immediately to Asuka, but I can’t wait to prove everybody wrong.”

Former longtime WWE executive and on-and-off in-ring performer, Steve “The Brooklyn Brawler” Lombardi recently appeared as a guest on former WWE broadcast team member Sean Mooney’s “Prime Time” podcast for an in-depth interview.

During the interview, The Brooklyn Brawler recalled working with Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship at the world-famous Madison Square Garden arena in New York City.

“His finish is the Superkick if I Superkicked him people would come unglued,” Brooklyn Brawler said. “What a match we had. It was the first Garden show with DX with Chyna and Triple H on the apron on the outside of the ring. Me and Shawn Michaels in Madison Square Garden.”

“I remember The Undertaker walking into the room, into the dressing room and looking at the line-up and it shows me in the main event, he’s underneath me and he goes, ‘what the f–k is this?’ That’s what he said. I just said, ‘it’s not me I didn’t do it!’ Because nobody wants heat with The Undertaker. But I tell ya, my career, you couldn’t even write this the way it happened.”

Brawler continued, “He’s kicking out at two-and-a-half and he’s selling and doing all these crazy moves. I mean he made me look like a million bucks. I’m telling ya and then Triple H jumps on the apron and I pop him, nail him then Chyna comes in and gives me a Frankensteiner. I mean, it was great.”

As noted, Taeler Hendrix has gone public with her accusations that her career in Ring Of Honor (ROH) was sabotaged due to turning down sexual advances made by at-the-time (and current) ROH World Champion Jay Lethal a couple of years ago.

In addition to Hendrix commenting on the subject and ROH issuing a statement regarding the matter, Lethal himself has now finally emerged with his own take on the story.

Featured below is Lethal’s response to the situation, denying the recent claims made by Hendrix:

WWE Superstar and co-star of the new USA Network reality show, Miz & Mrs., The Miz, recently spoke with the folks from The Wrap for an interview.

During the discussion, The Miz explained why he has been mentioning he and Maryse’s daughter, Monroe, on WWE television so much as of late.

“We weave our real lives into our WWE live,” said The Miz. “We just look at what’s happening in our lives and what can we do? What’s the most annoying — as a bad guy, as a villain, what’s the thing we can do to make people hate us?”

The Miz continued, “Now, it’s truly wonderful to have a kid. It’s the best gift you could possibly get, but have you ever met those people who just talk about it all day long and it’s just annoying? That’s kind of what I started doing and I was like, ‘This will be fun. I’ll just start talking about it all the time. It’ll be endearing at first, but then it’ll get annoying.”

Check out the complete interview with The Miz at TheWrap.com.

As noted, Tegan Nox suffered a bad injury during the second night of tapings for this year’s WWE Mae Young Classic 2018 32-woman tournament at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida earlier this week.

The injury happened when Nox landed awkwardly on her leg while executing a dive on opponent Rhea Ripley. She would go down screaming and crying in pain while medics quickly rushed to her aid and helped her to the backstage area.

After the taping, Nox took to social media to issue a statement on the injury and how despite everything that happened, the past two days have been the best experience of her life. Check out the statement via Nox’s official Twitter page below.

“This isn’t how I planned to finish the Mae Young Classic in any shape or form but the last 2 days have been the best experience of my life, despite the obvious! My match with Rhea was something I’ve wanted for a while because, damn that girl is talented (even if she is very moody). Freak accidents happen, it’s part of the job but to hear that she had a killer match with one of the best wrestlers in the world, Io Shirai made my heart swell with happiness.

This is more mentally draining than it is physically but you can guarantee that this isn’t going to keep me down! I have the best friends and support system a girl could ever ask for!

I worked so hard for over a year to be able to compete in this year’s MYC, so you know for a fact, I’m fighting back stronger than ever!

Every message I’ve received tonight on twitter, Facebook, Instagram, text, etc has been absolutely overwhelming! The fact that my hospital room was full of people really warms my heart and honestly meant the absolute world to me! I said it before and I’ll say it again, everything happens for a reason, so no matter what the full extent of this injury is, I’ll be back and I’ll be Shinier than ever.”

A new video further exposes the brutality of the force-feedings of prisoners on hunger strike at Guantanamo.

Twice a day, every day at the prison, over 40 of the more than 100 hunger strikers who are protesting their indefinite detention are strapped down and force-fed in a procedure widely denounced as torture.

The video by human rights charity Reprieve and director Asif Kapadia captures the horrifying cruelty of the Standard Operating Procedure for the force-feeding.

Yasiin Bey—the actor and rapper formerly known as Mos Def—undergoes the procedure in the video. He is shackled, strapped into chair, his head and hands belted back in restraints. A plastic tube is forced down his nostril, visibly causing pain.  He is held down.

Bey begs for the force-feeding to stop and weeps.

Over 40 Guantanamo prisoners are subjected to this twice a day, an experience Reprieve reports can last two hours.

:  Viewers may find the video very disturbing.

Guantanamo prisoner Tariq Ba Odah—who’s been held at the prison for 11 years without trial—has been force-fed like this since 2007, says the Center for Constitutional Rights, which represents him.

The video marks the launch of a campaign encouraging justice supporters to embark on a hunger strike in solidarity with the prisoners.

“President Obama could take the steps needed to release cleared prisoners from Guantanamo any time he likes, but so far has lacked the political courage to do so,” stated Clive Stafford Smith, Reprieve’s Director and attorney for Guantanamo prisoners. “We hope that public solidarity with the hunger-strikers in Guantanamo will persuade him to change his mind.”

Also, the Obama administration refused on Monday to give legally binding assurances that the Guantanamo prisoners would not be force-fed during daylight hours of the Muslim holiday of Ramandan, during which observers fast during the day.  Reprieve reports that the U.S. Department of Justice said that the force-feeding at night is “an accommodation, not a right.” They merely have “plans” to execute the torturous procedure “absent any…operational issues” after sunset and before sunrise.

And if the prison officials do carry out the force-feedings of the dozens of prisoners in the limited hours between sunset and sunrise, lawyers with Reprieve have explained it would necessitate a “force-feeding factory.”

Scoffing at President Obama’s lawyers’ position that the detainees are “‘non-resident aliens [and] are not protected ‘persons’ within the meaning of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act,” lawyers for the prisoners noted that “it hardly advances international respect for American democracy when the Supreme Court treats corporations as ‘persons’ but the President insists that the Guantánamo Bay detainees are not.”

“If the Obama Administration is so sure they can feed these prisoners overnight, why won’t they agree to give it legal weight?” added Cori Crider, Guantanamo Counsel and Strategic Director at Reprieve.  “The worrying conclusion is that prisoners’ rights during Ramadan will depend on the government’s largesse.”

“There is an easier way: Obama could stop this strike if he started freeing those prisoners who have been cleared for release by his own government,” said Crider.

Just this month, we have seen the president of the Philippines reviewing troops with China’s President Xi Jinping, declaring a separation with the United States and the birth of a new global hegemon, a sterling triumvirate of “China, the Phillipines and Russia.”

The State Department was left in some confusion.

This issue and so many more internally have been amplified by a strange election year and one alien to our traditions in so many ways; the sending forth of family members to “rule” now instead of govern, the rise of nontraditional actors like real-estate mogul Donald Trump when the most obvious choice of responsible, able and successful governors of great and important states like New York, Louisiana and Texas are dismissed out of hand.

At the moment, it might be said that the Republican party no longer really exists as its chosen candidate might most closely be described as an anarcho-capitalist. And the Democrats are no better. Possibly because there is today no longer any real Democratic Party. It has been replaced by the Clinton party.

All in all, it has brought us to a state of crisis, or what might be seen in hindsight as prelude to a crisis. With hopes, the turmoil will end on Nov. 8 when the election is settled one way or another. My guess is that it will not be and the real crisis only begins then.

So in this election, which is like no other since 1860, deciding who to vote for is of ultimate importance. We are told that this is no time for “throwing away your vote” on a third party. Never mind that the leading third party, the Libertarian ticket, is comprised of two Jeffersonian liberals, former Republican Govs. Gary JohnsonGary Earl JohnsonWhere Biden, Trump stand in key swing states Amash decides against Libertarian campaign for president The Hill’s Campaign Report: Amash moves toward Libertarian presidential bid MORE of New Mexico for president and William Weld of Massachusetts for vice president, two of the most successful and honorable governors of the post-war period.

While the mainstream parties offer two of the most disliked candidates in American history, each promising a crisis of one kind of another. And we are asked to vote for which disaster we prefer.

What would you prefer, a bruise or a deep cut?

Voting this year for one of the traditional parties might be considered throwing away your vote.

There is the opportunity to write in a candidate for president and certainly now is the time to welcome new ideas from anyone who has them. Please let us hear them.

I’ve decided that if I am to write in this time, I know whom to vote for: Jim Webb.

Webb, former Democratic senator from Virginia, former secretary of the Navy under President Ronald Reagan, Appalachian polymath, novelist, historian and war hero of the first rank, would well have added character and imagination to the ongoing discussion in the Democratic primary. But he left very early on — as did the best in the Republican lineup.

I’ve been celebrating Webb long before he decided to run for president, calling him a national treasure “as comfortable in the redneck hollers as he is among South Asia’s Buddhist sangas. We have not seen his likes since Davy Crockett graced the halls of Congress.”

But we need him now because crisis will bring us to his doorstep and that crisis will start in the Philippines. Our future president — whoever that might be — will be unprepared and China fully understands that.

Clinton, the most-traveled secretary of State in history, visited 112 countries during her four-year tenure, but like Rudyard Kipling’s fictional cat that walked by himself, “all places are alike” to her. That is the curse of all the utopian globalists of the Clinton era.

Alone of both parties, Webb understands that all places are not the same, all crises are different and the singular crisis America faces ahead is with China.

“From this point forward, no one should doubt that our overinvestment in the economy of a nondemocratic and ever more aggressive nation has seriously compromised our ability to conduct foreign policy in the world’s most dynamic region. And the fact that we have become vulnerable to a Chinese military modernized through the benefits of our own technology should give all of us pause,” he wrote in The Wall Street Journal back in 2001.

He has been telling us this for more than two decades: “Warily Watching China” in 1999, “What to Do about China” in 1998. But our Eurocentric political parties are more concerned with Europe and the Middle East and have sent us into long denial.

But now we are on the threshold.
