The competition just heated up even further @challenge_dubai on 27 Feb with the addition of @Jgomeznoya to the field! #WeAreTriathlon!
— Challenge Family (@Challenge_Famil) January 19, 2015
Gomez was an unstoppable force in 2014, bagging the Ironman 70.3 World Championship title in Mont Tremblant just a week after being crowned ITU World Triathlon series champ for the fourth time. Challenge Dubai will be his first race in 2015.
“I like half distances races and I really look forward to racing against the best triathletes in this distance. I expect Challenge Dubai is going to be a very tough and fast race because of the highest pro field level,” Gomez said.
With a prize pot of $300k (£198k) and a route dotted with sand dunes and world-famous landmarks, Challenge Dubai has already attracted pro triathletes from around the world, including Germany’s Jan Frodeno and Michael Raelert, New Zealand’s Terenzo Bozzone, and Australia’s Luke McKenzie, Tim Reed, Brad Kahlefeldt and Pete Jacobs.
Not to be outdone, the women’s field includes Switzerland’s Daniela Rfy and Caroline Steffen, Britain’s Jodie Swallow and Leanda Cave, and USA’s Meredith Kessler.
Challenge Dubai is the first race in the Challenge Triple Crown series, which also includes the recently announced Challenge Oman. Challenge Bahrain, whose debut in December 2014 was a tremendous success, will be the final race in the 2015 series, with a $1m (£660k) prize purse up for grabs.
“I’m happy to see how triathlon is growing in the Middle East countries. I’m sure it is something very good for the people, especially for the kids, and it is definitely very positive for our sport,” said Gomez.

The finale of Road to Double or Nothing kicked off with AEW Chief Branding Officer Brandi Rhodes hanging out by the pool with Britt Baker. She tells Britt that she’s obviously going to win her triple threat match at Double or Nothing, and she’s everyone’s favorite. Later on we see her on the phone, and she tells the same thing to both Nyla Rose and Kylie Rae, individually.
Actor and comedian Jake Whitehall then sits down with AEW executives in the middle of a ring to get their final thoughts going into Double or Nothing. Tony Khan talks about lapsed wrestling fans and wanting to rekindle an environment for them. Cody Rhodes talks about creating an alternative that isn’t “watered down” that includes things like violence, blood and some of the greatest wrestlers in the world.

Whitehall announces that the main event match between Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho is now effectively a qualifier to determine the first ever AEW World Heavyweight Champion. The other qualifier will be the 21-Man Casino Battle Royale, so the winner of that match will face the winner of Omega/Jericho to determine the first ever champion.

Tony Khan was a recent guest on the Steve Austin Show where the AEW President discussed getting Bret Hart to appear at Double or Nothing.
The Hitman introduced the brand new AEW World Heavyweight Championship in a segment on the night, with his appearance being kept as a surprise from everyone.
Speaking of how the decision to bring Bret in came about, Khan said:
“It just felt right. To be honest, I was on the phone with Cody one night and this was a segment that he was working on: the title segment. You saw what it became with the title segment, where my friend, Jack Whitehall introduces Bret Hart. Bret Hart: the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be came out. Bret is an all-time great legend in professional wrestling, and to me, there was not anybody better for this than him. The way it happened was that Cody and I were on the phone talking about this segment, and he was like, ‘Maybe a legend brings it out?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, maybe Ric Flair or Ricky Steamboat.’ And then I was like, ‘What about Bret Hart?” Cody was like, ‘Yeah, I love it. I love it. It’s great.’ I had to reach out to him and talk to the guys to see what they think, and they all loved it.”

The long-running saga between Roman Reigns and Shane McMahon took a strange and surprising turn earlier this week, when none other than The Undertaker made a surprise return to Monday Night Raw, assisting the “Big Dog” in fending off a brutal attack from both McMahon and Drew McIntyre.
A tag team match pitting Reigns and Undertaker against McMahon and McIntyre has been officially confirmed for WWE Extreme Rules on July 14th.
For those wondering, the decision to bring back the Deadman was not a knee-jerk reaction to the falling ratings, and it wasn’t something that was done at the spur of the moment. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, plans were in place prior to the Super Showdown event in Saudi Arabia.
While nothing has been confirmed at this point, it’s incredibly unlikely that the Undertaker is just back for one random Extreme Rules pay-per-view. It’s not like a Saudi show where he’s going to be making a monstrous payday for a one-off performance, so it’s more than likely that this will be the set-up for a bigger program at SummerSlam.
This is pure speculation, but given the current ongoing stories the most likely opponent for the Deadman at SummerSlam is Drew McIntyre. He’s already faced Shane at WrestleMania, and the main focus has been on Shane building up to one final fight with Roman Reigns anyways.

PWG has announced the first three competitors for the 2019 Battle of Los Angeles tournament, set to take place from September 19-21st.
The first entrant will be none other than the Spanish sensation A-Kid, making his BOLA debut. The 22-year-old star gained a ton of notoriety earlier this year for a match against Zack Sabre Jr. for the White Wolf promotion in Spain, that created enough buzz online to be seen by Dave Meltzer, who awarded it a “five star” rating in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The second competitor is Ring of Honor’s submission specialist Jonathan Gresham! The Octopus is hot off his stand-out performance in the NJPW Best of the Super Juniors. He made his PWG debut earlier this year, and more recently challenged Jeff Cobb for the PWG title at Mystery Vortex VI.

Finally, Canada’s Artemis Spencer will be making his PWG debut as the third entrant announced so far. The 33-year veteran has been wrestling since 2002, mostly in British Columbia, but has been gaining a bit more exposure recently with matches for PROGRESS in the Super Strong Style 16 tournament, while breaking into the U.S. more with the DEFY promotion in Washington.
The rest of the 2019 BOLA field, expected to be 24 wrestlers in total, will be announced over the course of the next few weeks.

First WWE reported that Braun Strowman may have suffered a ruptured spleen and major internal bleeding after being taken to the hospital last week, following the explosive start to Monday Night Raw.

Then, in a follow-up to that super specific report, just 24 hours later it was added that the “Monster Among Men” may have also suffered a separated pelvis. Yep. Not a broken, or a fractured pelvis. Separated….
Well, we’ve seen Strowman survive some ridiculous things throughout his WWE career so far, including coming back to life after being murdered via trash compactor. Now you can apparently add “recovering from internal bleeding and a SEPARATED PELVIS in literally one week” to that list of miracles.
Officially announced just moments ago, Strowman will face Bobby Lashley this Sunday at Extreme Rules in what is sure to be a brutal Last Man Standing match.
