John Cena Posts Photo Referencing Ford Lawsuit?
As noted, WWE star John Cena is currently being sued by Ford, as the car company claims Cena violated his contract with them when he sold his 2017 Ford Mustang. Ford is seeking $500,000 plus additional damages from Cena.
We also noted last night that Cena has reportedly apologized to Ford for the situation, and intends to work with them to make things right.
Cena has since posted a photo on his Instagram page, which he typically uses as a joke, and the photo features a classic Ford Mustang from the 1980’s:
WWE has released the above video, featuring Daniel Bryan addressing potential WWE Mixed Match Challenge teams. The video stems from Brie Bella claiming Becky Lynch and Shinsuke Nakamura would make a good team, and Bryan admits that while Brie has influence over him in their life, she does not have influence over him in his WWE MMC decision making.
JBL Talks Bermudan Rugy Team
The Guardian recently published an article on former WWE announcer JBL and his work with the Beyond Rugby Bermuda Team. Below is a quote from JBL on his work with the team, which focuses on keeping young Bermudans in school and away from gangs:
âI had seen the ethos of rugby and I was very much an admirer,â Layfield says. âFor us itâs a beautiful sport, what I guess what Pele called soccer in Brazil. Itâs so simple, itâs easy to understand, you can play five on five or 15 on 15. I would be so much better coaching American football, but you need 22 on each side and all the equipment and everything. With rugby you just need a mouthpiece and grass.
âWe have issues with gangs and with drugs in Bermuda but we want to attract the most hardcore kids. We want the gang leaders, because theyâre going to be leaders either in a gang or on the rugby pitch. And weâve had a lot of success.
âWe have super-tough kids who grew up in super-tough environments and they enjoy getting out there and knocking each other around and having a piece of pizza and going home.â

Disgusted that the @HoustonTexans allowed Tom Savage to return to the game after 2 plays after showing these horrifying #concussion signs (is that a seizure?) after a head impact. I would not let my worst enemy go through the 2017 #NFL sideline concussion protocol… https://t.co/PeJr5ISAIJ

Styles & Kofi Game
UpUpDownDown has released the following video:
“A trip to the 2018 Madden NFL 18 Superstar Tournament Championship game awaits… can AJ STYLES a.k.a. Prince of Phenomenal prove why SmackDown is the House That AJ Styles Built and break through to the big game (and not a controller) or will the smacktalker extraordinaire KOFI KINGSTON a.k.a. Mr. 24/7 a.k.a. Mr. Gotcho ride a wave of insults and sharp on-field skills to his first championship game?”
As seen on WWE Raw last week, a new #1 contender to Brock Lesnar’s Universal Title was not named after the main event match ended in a double count out. WWE.com is now hyping that the battle to name a new #1 contender will continue on Raw next week:
“This past Monday nightâs Raw main event should have decided Brock Lesnarâs Universal Championship challenger at the 2018 Royal Rumble event on Sunday, Jan. 28. However, Braun Strowman and Kaneâs hard-hitting bout quickly descended into chaos. Following a double count-out, neither Superstar emerged as The Beastâs challenger. So, who will rise to face The Conqueror?
Live on Raw, Lesnar returns to address the future of his championship â and the behemoths intent on capturing it.”

NXT Star & Actor Talk Tribute to Troops
WWE has released the following videos ahead of tonight’s WWE Tribute to the Troops special on USA Network:
“As a former Marine, NXT Superstar Steve Cutler brings a unique perspective to WWE Tribute to the Troops and talks candidly about the importance of the event, his favorite experiences and honoring those who have served and continue to serve”:
“Christopher Meloni, the star of the hit new show “Happy!,” joins WWE in thanking the brave men and women of the U.S. military during the 15th annual WWE Tribute to the Troops”:
Chris Van Vliet from WSVN-TV recently interviewed former WWE Universal Champion Goldberg at Homeland for the Holidays in Miramar, FL, and you can watch the entire conversation in the above video. Below are some highlight quotes from Goldberg:
On original plans for his return to WWE back in 2016:
“I only agreed to come back for one match, and I was gonna lose that match to Brock [Lesnar]. The night before they came to the conclusion that it might be good for me to stick around for a little while, for a couple reasons, and the rest of kind of history”.
On his spear vs the way other pro wrestlers do it, namely Roman Reigns:
“At the end of the day, the football tackle, for me, is something I can alter…but people come to see me run people over. And if that’s my true trademark move, then I’m gonna do it better than anybody. And I’m sorry but I played pro football for a little while, and I think I know how to tackle somebody.”
On a possible WWE return:
“As long as I got two arms and two legs and I can still do my thing, you know ‘never say never’.”
Who would be next:
“Roman Reigns would have to be the guy. There’s no question about it. I like him and everything, all the comparisons throughout the years…how people can compare us through the years, we’re two completely different people.”

Ring of Honor ‘s Flip Gordon recently spoke with The Wrestling News Hub Magazine, and below are some interview highlights:
On the independent wrestling versus major promotion styles of wrestling:
My take on it is, you have to do a lot to get your name out there and get noticed. That is how you are getting booked more. If people don’t know who you are, they aren’t going to book you. You have to do something to get your name out there, and once you get your name out there then you start learning how to work. You start working with better guys, and that is when you are going to start learning how to work. Obviously, you are not going to know everything about how to work when you start wrestling. Talent just has to get the buzz around them, and that is what a lot of guys do, get their name out there and do crazy sh**, boom, boom, boom. A quick highlight reel so they can share it. That’s what I do. For the first six months to a year, I did the craziest things I could think of to get me a lot of buzz. I put it in a highlight video to help build a lot of attention, and that helped me a lot when it came to bookings, and I started traveling….
On his first match with NXT’s Oney Lorcan:
…on May 6th, 2015. He was one of the best on the indies that I wrestled against. It was only a couple of months before he was picked up. It was crazy, and I think about this match like it was yesterday. I can’t remember everything that happened in the match, but I do remember I learned so much from that one match with him because of how much of a professional he was. I had no business being in the ring with him. He definitely took care of me and taught me so much that I still remember to this day. There are little things from that match that I still learn from because of him. It was really cool. He taught me things from a selling point and listening to the crowd….
On who he’d match up well within Ring of Honor:
I think Shane Taylor and I would have a good match. I think it would be different, and I think it would be more difficult, but I think it would be a good match. It would be a different kind of story that we would be telling in the ring. I am not going to be able to do all my moves on him. I would have to think differently. It just wouldn’t be your typical Flip Gordon match. I think that it would be a cool story to tell because it would be different. I also think it would give me an opportunity to show people that I am not just a high flier that I am well-rounded in the ring.
