Cody Rhodes has announced in a new video that AEW will be making it’s debut in Atlanta on February 19th for an episode of their weekly episodic Dynamite. The show will take place at the State Farm Arena, with tickets set to go on sale this Friday. The American Nightmare spoke about the history of pro-wrestling in the Georgia area ahead of his announcement.

Deep beneath the Georgia red clay, pro wrestling has roots in the South. Think about all the great wrestlers who have come from Georgia. The Armstrongs, Arn Anderson, Ron Simmons, Ray Traylor … it’s quite a list.

Which is why when AEW became official, what I’m about to tell you became inevitable. That we had to come to the state of Georgia. That we had to come to the city of Atlanta. If you’re gonna do it, do it big. Which is why February 19th, AEW will present Dynamite from the State Farm Arena. For those wondering, the State Farm Arena can seat up to 21,000 people.

AEW also announced earlier today that they’ll be in Kansas City on February 26th.

WWE’s blue brand returns to the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina for this week’s edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown.

WWE.com released the following preview for tonight’s show:

Friday Night SmackDown preview, Jan. 17, 2020: Roman Reigns and Robert Roode to collide in Tables Match

Roman Reigns and Robert Roode collide in a Tables Match, John Morrison returns to the ring in a matchup against Big E and Lacey Evans finally gets her opportunity to battle Sasha Banks. Also, Kane is set to reemerge on an action-packed SmackDown.

Roman Reigns and Robert Roode to collide in Tables Match

Last week’s SmackDown featured a Glorious return and a subsequent attack that ended with King Corbin’s court sending Roman Reigns viciously through the announce title.

Now Reigns will look to deliver royal justice to Robert Roode for his surprise assault in what promises to be a brutal Tables Match on Friday Night SmackDown.

Has Roode bit off more than he can chew with The Big Dog? Or will King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler be waiting in the wings to hand Reigns another humiliating setback?

See who comes out on top at 8/7 C on FOX this Friday night on SmackDown!

John Morrison to return to the ring in battle with Big E

Eat your hearts out blue brand – John Morrison is getting back into the ring. The Guru of Greatness will have his hands full in his return, as Big E will be seeking payback for Kofi Kingston’s loss to The Miz on Jan. 10.

After weeks of speculation, Morrison joined his longtime friend on “Miz TV” and defended The Miz against the WWE Universe’s recent backlash. The New Day entered in an attempt to deliver a dose of reality to the former “Dirt Sheet” co-hosts, and Kingston met The Miz in the ring for a showdown.

The Prince of Parkour showed he still has the moves with an impressive flip from the ring steps that neutralized Big E and spurred his longtime friend to victory. Will Morrison bring the same intensity inside the squared circle, or will Big E’s strength be too much to overcome?

Kane returns to SmackDown!

Former WWE Champion and current Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, Kane makes his return to SmackDown this Friday for a special appearance.

The Big Red Machine has competed in more Royal Rumble matches and has more eliminations than any Superstar in WWE history, and with the match on the horizon, could Kane be ready to make history once again?

Lacey Evans and Sasha Banks to finally meet in the ring this Friday Night

After weeks of verbal attacks and plenty of flying fists, Lacey Evans and Sasha Banks will finally meet in the ring on Friday Night SmackDown.

Last week the two Superstars appeared headed for an in-ring clash, but with The Boss off recording her album, The Sassy Southern Belle was left frustrated without an opponent to release her wrath on. SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley was quick to offer her taunts and reveled in Evans’ despair. As a result, Evans charged up the ramp setting up a backstage collision that saw both competitors land vicious blows.

Will The Boss prove that she is indeed still at the head of SmackDown, or will Evans snag arguably the biggest win of her WWE career by besting The Blueprint?

Find out when the two collide this Friday Night at 8/7 C on FOX.

WWE COO Triple H announced during his post-Worlds Collide interview on Facebook Live that NXT Champion Adam Cole’s TakeOver: Portland challenger will be revealed tonight during NXT on USA Network.

The Game said that NXT General Manager William Regal is working on something “pretty epic” for the title match at the Feb. 16 WWE Network special. Just what does he have in store for the leader of Undisputed ERA?

Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne to battle Grizzled Young Veterans in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Final

The 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic field has been whittled down to the final two teams, but only one will be left standing after the tournament final tonight on NXT when Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne clash with Grizzled Young Veterans.

“The BroserWeights” were not a tag team prior to joining forces for the Dusty Classic, but Riddle & Dunne quickly proved themselves, first in a thriller where they defeated Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster, and then with a huge victory over Imperium in the semifinals.

Though Zack Gibson & James Drake were the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions, many saw them as underdogs throughout the tournament. First, Grizzled Young Veterans had to go through the reunited duo of Kushida & Alex Shelley. They did. Then, if they wanted to get to the finals, they had to defeat NXT Tag Team Champions Undisputed ERA. They did. Gibson & Drake are supremely confident heading into the final, and they believe they are soon to prove the NXT Universe wrong and become the world’s No. 1.

Who will leave Full Sail University with the Dusty Cup and an NXT Tag Team Championship Match at TakeOver: Portland?

Former best friends Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai to battle

Best friends turned bitter rivals Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai will clash for the first time tonight on WWE NXT.

The bad blood can be traced back to the first-ever Women’s WarGames Match at NXT TakeOver this past November, when Kai turned her back on Nox, viciously attacking her friend by targeting Nox’s injured knee.

Kai’s torment of her former friend did not stop there. When Nox returned from the injuries Kai inflicted during a No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal on Jan. 15, Kai arrived to knock Nox out of the ring, costing her a chance to challenge for the NXT Championship. Nox got a measure of payback this past Saturday at Worlds Collide, when she ambushed Kai from behind, setting off a brawl that required a horde of referees and officials to keep the two separated

But tonight, there will be nothing stopping the two former best friends from taking out their frustrations on each other. Who will stand tall?

What’s next for new NXT North American Champion Keith Lee?

Keith Lee has had quite the week.

On Wednesday, he dethroned Roderick Strong to become NXT North American Champion and end The Undisputed ERA’s golden prophecy. Then, The Limitless One made his Royal Rumble Match debut on Sunday, standing toe-to-toe with WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. Though Lee was not victorious, he certainly made a major impression on The Beast and the WWE Universe.

What lies ahead for the new champion? Find out tonight on NXT, live at 8/7 C on USA Network!

Leon Ruff wins North American title on WWE NXT

November 13, 2020 | News | No Comments

A shocking title change opened tonight’s episode of NXT.

Leon Ruff defeated Johnny Gargano on tonight’s show to win the NXT North American Championship. Ruff got help from Gargano being distracted by Damian Priest.

In storyline, Gargano was looking to break his curse of never being able to successfully defend a title. He had promised that he would be facing a “worthy opponent” tonight. Gargano opened the show in the ring with the “Wheel of Challengers.” It had Ruff’s name written over one of the spots and was made so it would land on Ruff’s name.

Gargano was distracted by Priest appearing in the crowd during the match. That allowed Ruff to hit a crucifix bomb and pin Gargano to win the title.

As Gargano looked on in disbelief, Priest celebrated with Ruff on the stage. Priest put the North American title around Ruff’s waist, but it fell off due to Ruff being too small.

There was a segment after the match where Ruff was being interviewed backstage. Priest told Ruff that Gargano is going to be pissed and try to kick his ass, so Priest told Ruff to take the black Challenger that was outside. Gargano then came looking for Ruff. Gargano shoved Priest and had to be stopped by officials. Gargano asked whose stupid idea tonight’s title match was — and Priest pointed out that it was Gargano’s.

Gargano became NXT North American Champion by winning the title from Priest in a Devil’s Playground match at Halloween Havoc two weeks ago. The stipulation was determined by Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal. Gargano won after getting help via interference from someone wearing a Scream costume. The person in the costume was presumably Indi Hartwell.

Ruff is a former EVOLVE Tag Team Champion and was officially introduced as a WWE signee when last month’s Performance Center class was unveiled. Ruff has made several appearances on WWE television since March.

During this week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, the two newest female additions to the WWE Hall Of Fame were confirmed.

On WWE Friday Night SmackDown, it was officially announced that The Bella Twins — Nikki and Brie Bella — are both going into the WWE Hall Of Fame this year, joining the nWo and Batista as confirmed inductees for the 2020 class that will be going in during the ceremony scheduled for WrestleMania Weekend this April.

Check out the official announcement regarding The Bella Twins’ WWE Hall Of Fame induction below, as well as video clips of the news being announced during the WWE Friday Night SmackDown broadcast.

The Bella Twins to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2020

Nikki & Brie Bella, two of the most iconic female Superstars in WWE history, are the latest inductees into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2020. They will take their place in the hallowed hall on Thursday, April 2, in Tampa, Fla., during WrestleMania 36 Week. The news was first revealed by Alexa Bliss during “A Moment of Bliss” on Friday Night SmackDown.

The Bella Twins join Batista and nWo members Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Sean Waltman and Kevin Nash in the 2020 class so far. Nikki & Brie will react to the huge news in an interview on WWE Backstage this Tuesday at 11 p.m. ET on FS1.

The road to the WWE Hall of Fame was a long one for Nikki & Brie, who started their WWE careers by having a little fun deceiving their opponents. Brie debuted in August 2008 and strung together a series of wins, seemingly getting a second wind after scampering under the ring. However, their ruse would soon be revealed to be a bit of “Twin Magic,” as it was discovered that Brie’s twin sister Nikki was hiding under the ring, ready to switch places and pick up the victory. Though they had been found out, that tactic would go on to pay off for the Bellas countless times over the years.

Though “Twin Magic” was their calling card early on, Nikki & Brie proved they were extremely capable competitors. Brie was the first to capture championship gold, defeating Eve Torres to become WWE Divas Champion in April 2011. Nikki followed suit one year later with a victory over fellow WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix. Nikki captured the title again at Survivor Series 2014, dethroning AJ Lee to kickstart a reign that would last 300 days, the longest in Divas Championship history.

Throughout their time in WWE, The Bella Twins were part of many classic rivalries, facing off with the likes of Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Stephanie McMahon and even each other. They also helped introduce a new generation of fans to WWE with their hit reality shows “Total Divas” and “Total Bellas,” as well as their YouTube channel, which boasts more than 2.6 million subscribers.

And now, they’re being recognized for their incredible careers with the ultimate honor: induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Don’t miss The Bella Twins taking their place in sports-entertainment history during the 2020 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Thursday, April 2, during WrestleMania 36 Week. Tickets for the ceremony are available now at Ticketmaster and the Amalie Arena box office.

British Triathlon launches Tri January for newbies

November 12, 2020 | News | No Comments

Know someone thinking about trying tri, but worried about what not being fit enough? Give them a gentle introduction to multisport by encouraging them to sign up for British Triathlon’s new campaign, Tri January

Reigning ITU Paratriathlon World Champion and Strictly star Lauren Steadman is just one of the famous names backing the campaign. Other names include Deborah James and Lauren Mahon from BBC’s award winning You, Me and the Big C podcast, and TV sports presenter and world record holder for trying his hand at the most sports, Mike Bushell.

How to start running

What are the different triathlon distances?

The campaign looks set to encourage over 5,000 people to complete a triathlon in January. Each of the four famous faces will take on a different triathlon distance and encourage others to do the same – showing that triathlon is for everyone, regardless of age, ability or lifestyle.

So challenge your friend, loved one or colleague, to take on Tri January as an individual, or as part of a team.

They can swim or row, bike and run throughout the month by choosing their challenge and completing one of the distances below:

TEAM YOU, ME AND THE BIG C (GO TRI distance – 15km)
TEAM BUSHELL (Sprint distance – 25km)
TEAM STEADMAN (Standard distance – 50km)

There is no set formula for completing the challenge, as long as you achieve the distance. So, swim one day – or jump on the indoor rower if you prefer – bike the next and run the week after. Alternatively, they can complete the whole challenge all in one go. Tri January is designed to fit activity into even the most hectic of lifestyles. Their triathlon; their choice. Who knows they may become hooked and become your Ironman training partner…

Tri January aims to engage new participants and those with a ‘revolving door’ relationship with sport and physical activity with fun and accessible challenges, triathlon-style.

How to get involved

Sign up for free and receive a free Tri January campaign pack to help keep you on track, with a Tri January wall chart, stickers, diary inserts and other goodies from British Triathlon.
