Un synopsis officiel pour “Kick-Ass 2” !

February 28, 2020 | News | No Comments

February 28, 2020 | News | No Comments

February 28, 2020 | News | No Comments

February 28, 2020 | News | No Comments

Czech minister: Jean-Claude Juncker not ‘right man for the job’

Foreign minister says ‘someone in the EU maybe should contemplate quitting.’

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker is failing in his position because he didn’t prevent the British vote to leave the EU, Czech Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaorálek said on local TV on Sunday, AFP reports.

“Right now I can’t see the European Commission chairman as the right man for the job,” he said, adding that “someone in the EU maybe should contemplate quitting.”

“I would imagine the Commission is led by an honorable, trustworthy man who, in a situation when we are facing the loss of a leg or arm, might go to the country and tell the Britons: ‘We want you to stay.'”

Zaorálek also said Juncker was not the only one to blame as “the problem of European elites is bigger.”

EU asylum official: Backlog of requests hampers cooperation

National authorities have been reluctant to share expertise as they struggle to cope with applications.

Europe’s attempt to a create a single system for granting asylum has hit resistance from national governments, reluctant to share expertise as they deal with a backlog of refugee requests, according to the new head of the EU’s asylum agency.

“We need to grow from a boy to an adult in terms of resources and capacities,” said José Carreira, executive director of the European Asylum Support Agency, in an interview in Brussels. “It’s a gradual process” and EU national governments support the new approach, but “sometimes because of their own conditions they have some difficulties in giving sufficient number of staff.”

The Malta-based agency is preparing for an overhaul after the European Commission in May proposed giving it new powers that will turn it from a support-provider into a more operational body. The proposal is part of Commission’s effort to standardize EU rules on asylum after the system collapsed last year under the strain of nearly 1.3 million applications.

According to one of the Commission’s proposals, which are being discussed in the European Parliament, EASO will be turned into “a fully-fledged European Union Agency for Asylum with an enhanced mandate and considerably expanded tasks.”

But officials said the backlog of asylum requests from last year remains so extensive — 1.1 million cases are pending — that national authorities have not been able to share experts with the EU agency,  making it difficult to expand its powers.

Carreira said “the agency has been recruiting heavily” but it needs to increase its staff from 126 people to 500. At the beginning of September EASO issued a call for 100 more experts to deploy in Greece but so far it has received fewer than half of them.

Carreira is a former U.N. World Food Program official, who has also worked in the EU border agency Frontex. He was lukewarm on the idea that the EU should replicate elsewhere its deal with Turkey in which it provides humanitarian aid payments in exchange for Ankara’s cooperation on stemming migration flows. Some countries, such as Germany and Italy, are pushing for a similar arrangement with Egypt, which according to press reports has asked Europe for €1 billion to stop migrants from crossing the Mediterranean.

“I refrain from saying yes or no” to that option, Carreira said, stressing that the agency’s task is to implement and not to take policy decisions. But “each situation is a case in itself and the migration in the Central Mediterranean is a migration phenomenon but it needs a different approach.”

Kid Rock gave the Nashville, Tennessee, community a nice Christmas present this week, paying off $81,000 in layaway debts at an area Walmart.

@tylerperry Great idea! I followed your lead and paid off the layaway at my local Walmart in Nashville. Merry Christmas and God Bless You!” Kid Rock said in a tweet Friday, following the lead of Tyler Perry, who paid off layaway debts at Walmarts in Georgia.

WBIR reports that Kid Rock paid down 350 layaway accounts at a Nashville Walmart. The location’s manager Tom Meyer told the outlet, “Kudos to Kid Rock for making such a gesture in our community.”

“I think that’s a pretty Nashville proud moment,” he added.

The “All Summer Long” singer’s nice gesture comes after he got into some hot water for calling The View host Joy Behar a “bitch” on Fox News.

“God forbid you say something a little bit wrong you’re racist, homophobic, Islamophobic… people need to calm down, a get a little less politically correct, and, I would say love everybody. Except I’d say screw that Joy Behar bitch, everybody but that,” he joked, prompting Fox News host Steve Doocy to immediately apologize.

The 47-year-old’s obvious joke was still too much for some, and he was removed from a Christmas parade in Nashville over it.

Commissioner Creţu threatens to sue Romanian media over misquotes

‘See you in court,’ commissioner said.

Corina Creţu, the European commissioner for regional policy, has accused Romanian media outlets of misquoting her and said she had “no choice but to go to court” in a Facebook post Thursday.

Creţu objected to the way media reported a heated exchange during a citizens’ dialogue in Athens on Wednesday, accusing Pro TV, Hotnews, Libertatea and others of portraying the episode inaccurately for political gain.

The incident involved a back-and-forth between Creţu, the EU’s Romanian commissioner, and Zoe Konstantopoulou, the former speaker of the Greek parliament.

Konstantopoulou fired the first shot, accusing Creţu in Greek of “oppressing” her country by being part of an institution that imposed severe austerity measures despite the fact Greeks rejected them in a referendum. She added that Creţu had imposed a “dictatorship of the European Commission” in the country. Konstantopoulou then alleged Margaritis Schinas, a European Commission spokesperson and Greek national who was also in attendance, had rigged the Greek referendum.

“People are dying in Greece,” Konstantopoulou yelled.

“People are dying everywhere,” Creţu fired back in English. “Come to live in Romania if you don’t like [it] in Greece.” She then defended her record on Greece, telling the audience she had appealed to the European Parliament for a change in the rules to support the country.

Romanian TV channel Pro TV instead reported Creţu had said: “What if the Greeks are dying of hunger! There’s poverty everywhere in Europe. Come to Romania to see.”

Creţu said she could no longer allow media to misrepresent her comments, writing on Facebook: “I have decided to go to court. I have full trust in the Romanian justice [system],” signing off with “See you in court.”

A video of the exchange can be seen here, between 2:15:00 and 2:22:00.

NEW YORK (AP) — Janet Jackson joins her brother Michael and the Jackson 5 as members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, earning induction on Thursday along with Stevie Nicks and the top fan vote-getter, Def Leppard.

Radiohead, the Cure, Roxy Music and the Zombies will also be ushered in next spring at the 34th induction ceremony. It will be held March 29 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Jackson’s induction comes after her third time as nominee and many saw it as overdue, given her prowess as a hitmaker with “All For You,” ″That’s the Way Love Goes,” ″Nasty,” ″Together Again” and “What Have You Done For Me Lately.”

Her career has suffered from the fallout after the infamous 2004 Super Bowl appearance where her bare breast was briefly exposed. Jackson became eligible for the rock hall in 2007 and wasn’t nominated until 2016.

The Roots’ Questlove, in a social media post earlier this year, said her exclusion had been “highly criminal.” He cited the influence of her 1986 album “Control,” which he said set off the New Jack Swing trend.

“This was no one’s kid sister,” he wrote.

Jackson said on Thursday: “Thank you Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I am truly honored and I am happy to be in there with my brothers.”

It will be Nicks’ second induction into the rock hall, since she’s already there as a member of Fleetwood Mac. She launched a solo career in 1981 with her duet with the late Tom Petty, “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” Other hits followed, including “Edge of Seventeen,” ″Stand Back” and “I Will Run to You.”

Def Leppard earned more than half a million votes from fans, which are incorporated into more than 1,000 ballots from artists, historians, industry professionals and past winners in deciding who gets honored. The British heavy metal band with a pop sheen were huge sellers in the 1980s on the back of songs like “Photograph” and “Pour Some Sugar on Me.”

Frontman Joe Elliott said he was initially ambivalent toward the honor until Jon Bon Jovi suggested it would change his life.

“When I look at the list of who’s in, it’s just obvious you’d want to be in that club, isn’t it?” he told Billboard earlier this year. “When you think that every band that means anything in the world, starting from the Beatles and the Stones and any artist that influenced them — your Chuck Berrys, your Little Richards, etc., etc. — then of course you want to be in. Why wouldn’t you?”

Def Leppard, Nicks and Roxy Music were voted in during their first years as nominees. Other 2019 nominees who didn’t make the cut included LL Cool J, Devo, Rage Against the Machine, MC5, John Prine, Todd Rundgren and Kraftwerk.

There’s some question about whether Radiohead will shrug its collective shoulder as an inductees. The English band seemed like generic grunge rockers on their initial hit “Creep,” but with the album “OK Computer” and beyond have become consistent sonic pioneers. Among its rock hall class, Radiohead has the most impact on the current music scene.

In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year, Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood said “I don’t care” when asked about the rock hall. Bandmate Ed O’Brien said, “culturally, I don’t understand it. I think it might be a quintessentially American thing.”

The Cure and frontman Robert Smith resist their initial label as goth rockers, champions of fans who like black makeup, black clothes and darkly romantic songs. They have a durable catalog of hits, including “Friday I’m in Love,” ″Boys Don’t Cry,” ″Pictures of You” and “Let’s Go to Bed.”

Roxy Music came out of the 1970s progressive rock scene and had hits with “Love is the Drug” and “More Than This.” Dapper member Bryan Ferry had a successful solo career and Brian Eno has been an influential producer.

The heyday of British rockers the Zombies’ career was the 1960s, with big sellers “She’s Not There” and “Time of the Season.”

The hall will announce ticket sales for March’s ceremony next month. HBO and SiriusXM will carry the event.
