Grosjean seeking fix to Haas balance issues

November 27, 2019 | News | No Comments

Ahead of this weekend’s German GP, Romain Grosjean has urged Haas to sort out balance issues which affected the Frenchman’s run last Sunday in Hungary.

After starting his race from P11, Grosjean raced only briefly among the top ten before lingering most of the afternoon around P14 where he eventually finished, his VF-16 chassis suffering from a sudden balance deficit.

“The balance was absolutely nowhere, and that’s what I want us to understand before Germany,” Grosjean said.

“After qualifying it’s difficult to know exactly what happened, but clearly something in the race didn’t go as planned, and we had problems we shouldn’t have had.

“We just need to analyse because the car was very much on the nose in high speed, and I had a huge amount of understeer in low-speed corners.

“So we just need to make sure all the maps are correct, there is not something pushing the car, with the front behaving as it should when we turn the wheel. That is where we are going to focus because it was very strange.”

His troubles notwithstanding, Grosjean believes that with every race, Haas’ understanding of the inner workings of its car is improving, especially with regard to tyre management.

“The more time we have, the more experience we build up as a team, the more we can understand the tires. We’ve also created tools to help the tires to work and put them in a good window.”

Grosjean will be running in Hockenheim the same tyre compounds – medium, soft and supesoft – as in Hungary. But while one would believe this would introduce some helpful consistency into the mix, Grosjean minimizes the back-to-back use of the same tyres.

“It doesn’t mean much to have the same tyre compounds on back-to-back weekends. So much depends on the track, the tarmac and the temperature.

“It’s very difficult just to be able to say that because we were good on a certain tyre at a certain track that it just reapplies. You always need to re-think these things and start at the beginning.”

A winner at Hockenheim during his junior career, Grosjean is a fan of the German track which hasn’t changed much over the years in his view.

“It actually hasn’t changed at all since those days. It’s always great to visit somewhere with good memories.

“I won at the circuit in Formula 3, and in Formula Renault 1.6. I won there in the GP2 Series until a post-race penalty dropped me to second.

“Every year is different though. It doesn’t matter what happened in the past. The important thing is to make it count now.”

There are over nine lakh Rohingya Muslim refugees living in the camps in Bangladesh but despite the global attention their suffering is attracting, they are facing yet another year of uncertainty as funding continues to be a major challenge for the authorities.

Three quarters of the year has already elapsed with only 35 per cent of the required $920 million having been made available, The Dhaka Tribune reported.

‘Everything went to plan’ – Raikkonen

November 27, 2019 | News | No Comments

After a frustrating Friday in which Ferrari has struggled for grip and been sliding all over the seven kilometre Spa-Francorchamps circuit in free practice, Saturday saw a marked turnaround in form for the team as it successfully locked out the second row of the grid in qualifying.

“Everything went as planned,” Kimi Raikkonen said afterwards. “It’s nice to be so close but obviously we’d rather be on pole position.

“For sure we had a chance to put it on pole and it would have been easier without going off in the first run [at Stavelot at the start of Q3] but that’s how it goes.

“It would been easier without the first off, because that lap was also very good. On the last lap I lost 0.2s compared to my lap in Q2.

“I felt we had a good chance but I lost time in the last chicane. Is it the conditions? It’s very hard with these conditions for the tyres, but for everybody.

“I don’t know. If we knew it would be much easier to be in these positions all the time. Things have changed quite a few times this year, depending on circuits and conditions.”

Having set earlier times on soft compound tyres, Raikkonen and his team mate Sebastian Vettel both aborted late runs on supersofts at the end of Q2. But Raikkonen insisted that this had all been part of the strategy to ensure they would progress to Q3. As a result the Ferraris will both start on the more durable tyres, as will Nico Rosberg and Daniel Ricciardo.

“I don’t think tyres won’t make a big difference at the start. As long as we make a proper start we should be okay,” he said.

“Who knows what will happen in the first corner? It’s a normal race and we’ll see what happens. We’ll try to make a good start and go from there.

“The start and the first laps are always very important. It won’t decide out race though, it will be quite a tricky race for everybody because of the tyres in these conditions. Hopefully we’ll make the right choices when the time will come, but we’ll see what happens.”

Over the years deforestation has become a major challenge, not just for the wild animals, but the environment as a whole.

Deforestation has been happening in India, like many other countries around the world for many years now. A host of reasons including the growth in population, need for more farmland, industrialisation, mining and timber logging are often blamed for the rapid deforestation.

Sainz underlines personal step forward in 2016

November 27, 2019 | News | No Comments

Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz believes he has so far made the most of the hand of cards he was dealt this year, pleased with what he has accomplished in the first half of the 2016 season.

In an exclusive interview with F1i and our very own Chris Medland, Sainz reviews his year to date, his feelings on Max Verstappen’s in-season promotion to Red Bull Racing and his prospects for 2017.

Ultimately, the Spaniard is happy with where he is today in his life as a Grand Prix driver.

“I think I can be very pleased with this first half of the season,” Sainz told F1i

“To do more than we actually have done would have been very difficult. I think the first four races were quite unfortunate for us.

“We had the car to score a lot of points but we didn’t capitalise on it because it was almost like we had this black cat following us from 2015.

“From Barcelona this black cat went away and suddenly the results started to come together. We lost a podium in Monaco which was a big frustration but apart from that we’ve scored points in every race I’ve finished since then except for Baku.

“So I think we can be very pleased and I think we’ve done a big step forward, and me personally also.”

While Sainz admits his own progress and development, he also insists that circumstances, mainly associated with small details which prevented him from showing his true potential,  have changed more than he has.

“What’s happened in the last seven or eight races looks like I’m a completely different driver when I’m not. I’m exactly the same guy as the first four races.”

A 70-year-old sadhu or ascetic was allegedly killed by a group of people on suspicion of being a child lifter in Panhai village of Uttar Pradesh’s Chitrakoot on September 11.

The victim was identified as Ram Bharosey from Shahjahanpur, and was staying at a temple in a nearby village and ventured into Panhai, when a few men, driven by rumours of child lifting, became suspicious of his attire and attacked him.

Mob asked him why he had come to the village and that’s when some people lost their patience and began beating him black and blue.

Magnussen: Easy to make mistakes at Singapore

November 27, 2019 | News | No Comments

Renault’s Kevin Magnussen is targeting an error-free race at Singapore’s Marina Bay Street Circuit next weekend, hoping that the track’s unique characteristics could help him finish in the points if he can stay out of trouble.

“The track itself is fun and I always enjoy driving on street circuits. That said, it’s also a pretty tricky circuit to get right with a lot of corners where a mistake can be easily made.

“Grip levels evolve throughout the weekend so the key is set up and getting the balance right. Hopefully it’s a track where we can better our performance a little bit after a disappointing last European race.”

After recovering from a heavy crash at Spa two weeks ago, Magnussen’s outing at Monza last weekend had ended up being handicapped by his proximity to an early crash involving his team mate Jolyon Palmer and Sauber’s Felipe Nasr.

“The beginning of the race wasn’t ideal as I was running very close to both Jo and Felipe Nasr when the incident happened. It was a shame for Jo but also for me as it blocked my way as well.

“In the end it didn’t change much for me as when I got racing again I was at the back of the field and I didn’t have many cars to race against. It was a pretty frustrating Sunday afternoon.”

Magnussen has one previous outing at Singapore under his belt where he managed to finish in the points for McLaren in 2014 despite having to overcome technical issues with the car during the race.

“It didn’t go very well as I had an overheating issue in the car – on top of hot conditions!” he recalled. “A radiator seal had broken and there was hot air coming into the cockpit. It was extremely hot!

“This year I’m hoping for a solid race where we can fight in the pack. I really look forward to being in Singapore,” he added. “It’s a really cool circuit and being a night race in Singapore, it makes Formula 1 look even more spectacular.

“The entire city lives and breathes F1 during that week and you can feel it in the atmosphere everywhere when you are downtown.”

With an aim to change the lives of those who have nothing, a shopkeeper in Delhi has been running a makeshift school for more than 300 underprivileged children beneath a metro bridge in the Yamuna Bank area for the last over eight years.

Unfortunately, he has not received any assistance neither from the government nor any NGOs but that hasn’t deterredhis spirits.

‘The Free School Under The Bridge’, where hundreds of children living in shacks and hutments close to the Yamuna Bank metro station get an education, is run by its founder Rajesh Kumar Sharma, news agency PTI reported.Click Here: geelong cats guernsey 2019

Pascal Wehrlein says Manor’s strong first half to its 2016 campaign deserves to be acknowledged, with the F1 minnows showing they can challenge more established teams.

Making his series debut after winning the 2015 DTM championship, Wehrlein scored his team’s first point in two years by claiming 10th at the Austrian Grand Prix. This has put Manor ahead of Sauber in the Constructors’ standings, with the Banbury-based outfit often in the mix with Renault too.

“We don’t have so many people working in the factory but I think we are 140 or 150 people now and you forget we are doing a great job,” Wehrlein told F1i in an exclusive interview.

“I mean, Sauber has more than double what we have I think, and we always get the best out of the weekend for the last few races. Of course we could do a bit better here and there but overall I think we are in a very good position.

“We are in front of Sauber and I don’t think we could expect that because even last year and the years before the team was far adrift and this year is the first year we are really competitive and some races we are even in front of the Renaults. It’s a much bigger team than we are, as is Sauber, and it’s great what we are doing.”

Although Wehrlein is keen to add more points to his tally, the German, who will partner fellow Mercedes protégé Esteban Ocon for the remainder of the season, insists Manor’s end result in the championship remains the priority.

“In the drivers’ championship I am in a very good position, I am in front of one Haas, one Renault and the two Saubers… If it would be possible to stay there it would be great but the most important thing of course is to beat Sauber.

“That would mean a lot to the team, a lot of prize money for next year and then of course gets easier because you can hire more people because we are a small team.

“Everything will be easier if we have more people and with a better financial background we can improve the car much more and build something better than what we have this year.”

Days after Dr. Kafeel Khan, the suspended pediatrician of Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical College was reportedly exonerated of all charges leveled against him, the UP government has said that it is not true.

According to Rajnish Dubey, the Principal Secretary of Medical Education, the Uttar Pradesh Government has not given a clean chit to Khan in the 2017 Gorakhpur children death case and he is still under an internal investigation.
