WWE superstar Seth Rollins stopped by 101 WKQX in Chicago to hype the upcoming Survivor Series weekend, where WWE will host four events from the Allstate arena in the span of four days. Rollins took the opportunity to further his online beef with CM Punk, declaring that he still wants a match with the Second City Savior. He also jabs at Punk for criticizing the company on last Tuesday’s WWE Backstage, and challenges Punk to meet him in the ring.

Say whatever you want, play it however you want, that’s what Punk always does…but at the end of the day if he wants to come on a show and run his mouth about me and a company that he has had no part of for five years, then of course I’m going to stand up for it. This is a place that has given me everything that I’ve ever wanted in my life, not only for me but has provided me a living for my family, for people that I love, that I care about and of course I’m going to have its back. I’m not going to sit here and let you push it around, push me around and act like you’re so cool. You couldn’t bust a cherry in a fruit fight, dude.”

I want to make some money, so if CM Punk wants to talk all of the smack in the world, I’ve invited him a million times to come to my ring. To my domain on live television where you can’t hide behind anything, no desk in LA. Let’s do this thing, man. Let’s fight. Let’s fight it out like men.

The former Universal champ would continue…stating that if there is only one place for this dream bout to happen…WrestleMania.

I don’t know what he’s up to, but the bottom line is wherever, whenever he wants to do this thing, if he wants to man up and do it, I’m there. For me, the only place the match happens is WrestleMania in the main event. That’s the only reason I’m picking a fight with him, I’ve got no other interest than that. If he’s interested, it’s out there. Any time you’re ready, let’s go.

Welcome, boys and girls, to another episode of the Lawcast! This is part 2 of our Thanksgiving spectacular and this time around we’re looking at the very first time Raw and Smackdown clashed for brand supremacy in a truly fun series of invasions that set the template for this kind of thing in WWE.

But that’s not all! We also have to try our best to come to grips with the death of Eddie Guerrero, chronicle WWE’s wild swings and misses with their booking of John Cena, and marvel at the world that Trish Stratus created. This is a weird show from a weird time, but i’ll be damned if I didn’t actually like this one.

Hey guys! If you haven’t joined our the Lawcast Patreon yet, here’s a look at what’s new:

We now have FOUR bonus episodes available to our donors, including a look at the rarely seen original pilot of Smackdown, an episode of So You Think You Can? where Steve is forced to try to fix the many, many issues with Starrcade 97, and we just released an episode of The 90s Sports podcast, something that started as a joke, but that people actually gave us money because they wanted to listen to it. You guys are weird and we love you. Sign up to get it all, and our newest bonus episode where Cewsh takes his turn in the booking chair and will try to fix the calamitous mess of ECW December to Dismember.

Think of it as hiring us for a job where you only pay us $2.50 an hour. I’m pretty sure that’s not even legal, but we’ll just keep it between us.

Become a Patron!

Also, we have finally found a way to meet the request that we get the most often, and we finally now have a full archive for the Lawcast where you can go and listen to us talk about Sid for nearly 100 episodes. In the future we’ll have playlists up there to make it easier to navigate, but for now we’ve got the whole deal there for the taking. Enjoy!

US Secretary of State John Kerry signaled his strong support for the Egyptian military in the midst of military and ‘security force’ crackdowns that have left over 300 people dead, including at least 80 Morsi supporters shot Saturday.

Speaking to Pakistan’s GEO TV Thursday, Kerry proclaimed, “The military was asked to intervene by millions and millions of people, all of whom were afraid of a descendance into chaos, into violence.”

He continued, “The military did not take over, to the best of our judgement – so far. To run the country, there’s a civilian government. In effect, they were restoring democracy.”

This comes as the military-backed interim government threatens to snuff out pro-Morsi rallies planned for Friday, putting the country on edge and sparking fears of explosive violence.

Amid growing international concerns about military coup and human rights abuses, Kerry’s statement appears to be a full-fledged endorsement of the military’s actions.

Human rights advocates have condemned the spiraling human rights nightmare in Egypt. Amnesty International declared Wednesday, “The Egyptian government’s decision to mandate security forces to end all pro-Morsi sit-ins in Greater Cairo, considering recent violence against protesters, is a recipe for further bloodshed.”

SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT

There have also been reports of violence and torture on the part of Morsi supporters, who have clashed with Egyptian residents in neighborhoods throughout the country.

The Obama administration has refused to rule on whether the military takeover constitutes a “coup,” a move that allows the US government to circumvent US law and renew the annual $1.55 billion in US military aid, which has for decades contributed to growing Egypt’s brutal security state while securing US and Israeli geopolitical power in the region.

The military-backed interim government recently announced it is resurrecting the despised secret police, despite claims that they were disbanded after the fall of Mubarak.

Meanwhile, growing voices within Egypt are speaking out against both military and Morsi rule, declaring that violent suppression of the Muslim Brotherhood—whose leaders were also guilty of violent crackdown on dissent while they were in power—must stop.

“Egypt is now under threat of being dragged into critical situations that put the demands of the January 25 revolution in danger [including] falling into the trap of unconditional military rule,” reads a statement by the group “To Continue the Revolution; Now Not Tomorrow.”

The polls were wrong, the unthinkable has happened, and Donald TrumpDonald John TrumpSenate advances public lands bill in late-night vote Warren, Democrats urge Trump to back down from veto threat over changing Confederate-named bases Esper orders ‘After Action Review’ of National Guard’s role in protests MORE has been elected the 45th president of the United States, with a Republican Congress.

The swing voters, as in most presidential elections of the past few decades, were white working-class voters. It would be worthwhile therefore to think about how a large majority of this group ended up voting against their own interests.

Many liberals will blame the voters themselves, seeing them as racist, misogynistic and otherwise backward and ignorant.

There is no doubt that Trump voters are worse than average in attitudes toward non-white Americans, immigrants and women.

After all, most of them are Republicans; about 90 percent of Republicans voted for Trump and that is the bulk of his base. The Republican Party, since at least the civil rights movement and legislation of the 1960s and its “Southern strategy,” has been a white people’s party. It has also engaged in a “war on women” before Trump took the stage to literally add a lot of insults to the injuries.

So, no surprises there, even if he used a police whistle instead of just a dog whistle.

The more important question is what moved the swing voters.

And here it must be acknowledged that while racism and sexism were factors, there were also millions of protest votes. Trump posed as an outsider and many of his supporters liked that he was giving the middle finger, so to speak, to people they didn’t like, including the mainstream media and politicians.

But to see how they might be angry enough to vote for someone like Trump — whom many did not even like — we have to look at the economic policies that Democrats and Republicans alike have implemented, and how these have ruined the lives and futures of so many Americans.

The media has focused on trade, partly because Trump opposed the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and other trade agreements and attacked Hillary ClintonHillary Diane Rodham ClintonWhite House accuses Biden of pushing ‘conspiracy theories’ with Trump election claim Biden courts younger voters — who have been a weakness Trayvon Martin’s mother Sybrina Fulton qualifies to run for county commissioner in Florida MORE for supporting them.

Although Clinton took a position against the TPP in the campaign, she had previously supported it and there was reason to believe that she would do so after the elections.

It certainly didn’t help that President Obama launched a serious effort, in the middle of the presidential campaign, to pass the agreement — aiming for the lame-duck Congress, where the swing votes would be unaccountable and many would soon be taking new jobs as lobbyists.

But the TPP and “trade” — the quotes are necessary because the most economically important features of the TPP agreement are not tariff reductions, but rather rules that give corporations and patent and copyright holders new rights and privileges — are mostly stand-ins for a larger set of neoliberal policies that have hurt the majority of Americans over the past few decades.

These include, for example, the country’s most important macroeconomic policies: fiscal, monetary and exchange rate policies.

Trade is a surrogate because people often do not understand these macroeconomic policies. This is not their fault: the media does not tell them that when the Fed raises interest rates, as it will likely do next month now that the election is past, it is deliberately slowing job growth and wage growth for workers in the bottom half of the wage distribution.

Or that the lack of job opportunities for millions of Americans could be remedied by increasing government spending, with no real cost to society since real interest rates are at zero.

Or that an overvalued dollar is responsible for many more jobs going overseas than even the worst trade agreements.

Or that the U.S. Treasury can determine the value of the dollar, and therefore our trade deficit, no matter what China does or wants.

So “trade” agreements and “globalization,” as they are represented and misrepresented in the media, take on an outsized importance.

Of course, they have played an important role in the past in deindustrializing parts of the country and destroying good-paying manufacturing jobs.

But today, they are the most visible manifestation of neoliberal economic policies that have destroyed the livelihoods, hopes and dreams of millions. The neoliberal structural reforms of President Bill ClintonWilliam (Bill) Jefferson ClintonWill the ‘law and order’ president pardon Roger Stone? Five ways America would take a hard left under Joe Biden The sad spectacle of Trump’s enablers MORE — NAFTA, the World Trade Organization (WTO), welfare reform and financial deregulation — did so much damage that there wasn’t much left for the next president, George W. Bush, to do.

When center-left politicians — in this case from the Democratic Party — abandon much of their base in important ways, that base can end up voting for right-wing demagogues.

We see this in other countries: in the Brexit vote in the U.K., where Britain voted to leave the European Union, or in France, where the right-wing National Front has made large gains in recent years. This can create a vicious circle, where the center-left dismisses such voters as “backward” or “xenophobic” and pushes them further into the hands of the right, rather than looking at their legitimate grievances and trying to do something about them.

Partly because of Sen. Bernie SandersBernie SandersThe Hill’s 12:30 Report: Milley apologizes for church photo-op Harris grapples with defund the police movement amid veep talk Biden courts younger voters — who have been a weakness MORE’s (I-Vt.) campaign for the Democratic nomination, the Democratic Party produced its most progressive platform ever this year. But this was not enough to convince swing voters that Clinton, given her record, would implement it.

All this is not to ignore the fact that Republicans are reliant on voter suppression, and gerrymandering for the House of Representatives, in order to get the power they now have.

Without these anti-democratic tools, the Republicans would be a permanent minority party. Voting reform is essential to a democratic transition for America.

But the Democrats will also need new leadership that is willing to provide an alternative to the past four decades of neoliberal failure.

Cody Rhodes has announced in a new video that AEW will be making it’s debut in Atlanta on February 19th for an episode of their weekly episodic Dynamite. The show will take place at the State Farm Arena, with tickets set to go on sale this Friday. The American Nightmare spoke about the history of pro-wrestling in the Georgia area ahead of his announcement.

Deep beneath the Georgia red clay, pro wrestling has roots in the South. Think about all the great wrestlers who have come from Georgia. The Armstrongs, Arn Anderson, Ron Simmons, Ray Traylor … it’s quite a list.

Which is why when AEW became official, what I’m about to tell you became inevitable. That we had to come to the state of Georgia. That we had to come to the city of Atlanta. If you’re gonna do it, do it big. Which is why February 19th, AEW will present Dynamite from the State Farm Arena. For those wondering, the State Farm Arena can seat up to 21,000 people.

AEW also announced earlier today that they’ll be in Kansas City on February 26th.

We see Seth Rollins, Akam, and Rezar in the back watching on a monitor and then they walk with mean looks on their faces as we go to commercial.

We are back and Kevin is sitting in the middle of the ring and Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring with Akam and Rezar.

We go to footage of R Truth in New York City to light the Rock Tree. The invitation is in Japanese and Truth is told the tree has been lit for weeks. Truth wants to know why Rock had him come out if he was going to light his own tree.

We are back and Tozawa is walking through New York with his title and he takes a seat but we see a statute of R Truth and a referee behind Tozawa. In the most convenient moment, Truth has Tozawa bump into someone at a food truck. Tozawa tells him that it was Truth’s fault and he runs away.

Drew, we are having fun and you are a big inspiration to us. You are as wise as you are jacked. You are an incredible wrestler because you decimated both of us.

You just saw his definition of fun. Drew says he won’t give you the tired cliche of being the future. The year 2020 belongs to Drew McIntyre.
