In an interview that didn’t reveal much of anything related to the future of AEW and Impact Wrestling, World Champion Kenny Omega said on Impact Tuesday that he will be on Dynamite Wednesday to make “a big announcement.”

A very heelish Omega and Impact VP Don Callis were interviewed by Josh Mathews on Omega’s new bus, kicking things off by changing the nameplate on the AEW title belt. Callis said this whole plan began 27 years ago when he first met Omega and that he didn’t return years ago to be a color commentator or to do a podcast.

He came back to change history alongside Omega, citing his various recent accomplishments in New Japan, AAA, and AEW. He said no one changes history twice, but that’s exactly what they did last Wednesday, “setting the course of history right.”

Omega justified hitting Jon Moxley with a microphone and breaking the “gentleman’s agreement” because Moxley hit Callis first, comparing it to a situation where someone hit your own father. “When you lay your hands on the invisible hand, what do you expect me to do?”, he said. He didn’t feel like the way the win happened tarnished it at all. They did it “because we can” and that he feels like “the old me.”

Omega, sporting a black right eye, said he was a hobbyist and talked about his past collecting comics where had to stop because he could never get the most rarest, most valuable one. Now that he has the Action Comics #1 of wrestling titles, he might want to start collecting others with Callis pointing out Impact has lots of titles. He said he loves the lifestyle of being a pro wrestler, traveling, and as long as he has the AEW title, he doesn’t mind having fun in his spare time.

He then said he and Callis were going to make a big announcement on Dynamite with Lex Luger being a clue because they had already had the bus.

The entire episode of Impact was centered around Omega’s appearance, opening with a two-minute recap package of the Omega/Moxley title match from Winter Is Coming. Early in the show, AEW president Tony Khan appeared alongside Tony Schiavone in a “paid announcement” promoting Dynamite and inviting Callis to the show to accompany Omega.

Later, Tommy Dreamer told Scott D’Amore that he was concerned about what Omega and Callis mean to the Impact locker room. D’Amore blew off because of all the attention it was getting, telling Dreamer to go along for the ride because a lot of other people are.

Just before the show closing interview, Impact World Champion Rich Swann was attempting to get into the parking lot but was told he wasn’t on the list which he didn’t take favorably, storming off after flipping over a chair.

WWE Tag-Team Champions The New Day (Big E., Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) recently appeared as guests on The Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On Big E’s hip-dance during The New Day’s entrance:

“I’ll be honest. I didn’t know I had that in me. I don’t dance. Like, I don’t dance at all. I don’t do any of that. And then, I don’t know when it started, but it just felt right. I was like, ‘oh, I’m going to try this’ and it felt so right. And now it’s getting out of hand!” Big E added, “I can’t remember the first thing that was said, but the cool thing is Vince loves the nonsense. We always get reports that, like, we’ll have a writer or someone in Gorilla and they’ll tell us that Vince is doubled over laughing. He loves the nonsense and that’s really cool.”

On Vince McMahon pulling Xavier Woods aside after an over-sell job on TV:

“I love being subversive and I really like seeing where the line is, but, no, we haven’t gotten in trouble at all. I think the only time Vince has ever pulled us aside and said, ‘hey, pull it back a little bit’ is when Woods went through a table, the Dudleyz put him through a table, and he did the old school D-Von sell and I didn’t realize how bad it was until I watched it back and Vince had every right to pull [Woods] aside because it was ridiculous!”

On the origin of “Booty-O’s”:

“I think it was, like, last November. We were just in the car. We always try to push and see, like, what we can do. And so, we came up with the idea, like, ‘oh, maybe like a cereal. It’s like, Booty-O’s. We can make a cereal called Booty-O’s.’ And so, I contacted a guy on Twitter who’s a very good artist and commissioned him to draw up what it would look like if we had a cereal box. And then, the next day on [WWE Monday Night] RAW, we just said, ‘Booty-O’s! They make sure you ain’t booty.’ Just said it. And then, we got two things of fan art, whatever, on Twitter. And then, that Friday, we released the picture that the guy drew, that we had the guy draw. Then, we said it again the next Monday. Then, that next week, tons of fan art. Then, they came to us, like, ‘eh, what’s this Booty-O’s thing? We need to do something.’ And it’s like, we literally willed it into existence and it feels real good.”

On the latest edition of WWE Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s weekly “Steve Austin Show” podcast at PodcastOne.com, “The Rattlesnake” spoke about the recent RAW segment between Ric Flair and Charlotte, his thoughts on Sasha Banks and more. Below are some of the highlights of what Austin spoke about.

On Sasha Banks:

“She is a tremendous worker. She [has] got a great look. She [has] got a great gimmick. She can talk. She can do it all! And I think the young lady has money written all over her, but she [has] got to be a single person that’s not got anybody running any interference for her, not taking away any shine from her, any of her camera time. She is a solo act. ‘The Legit Boss’? It kind of speaks for itself. If they ain’t got anything for her, keep her off TV. But if you’re going to bring her back, bring her back full green light and bring her back in a solo run.”

On the recent RAW segment between Ric Flair and Charlotte:

“[Ric Flair] spilled the beans as soon as he went out there. He had only been talking 10 to 15 seconds and I said, ‘oh, he’s getting fired or she’s going to kick him out of the damn ring’ and that’s exactly what happened. And then, man, that was a pretty rowdy crowd and she got lost. And I love Charlotte. She’s a talented female. She’s still green, but she [has] got so much potential. And she carries herself [like a star]. When she enters that damn arena, everybody comes to their feet when they hit that music. It’s a moment. We’ll see what happens with the matches that she’s in, but she’s a special one too. But that was just a real bad [segment] and that thing, Ric kind of spilled the beans. Whoever wrote that, and you know Ric is one of the best promos in the history of the [professional wrestling] business and you don’t writing [anything] for Ric Flair. Just let him go out there and do his thing. But, so he’s going out there and he’s trying to memorize this script that someone wrote him and he spilled the beans, started tripping all over himself, and then, it only got worse from there. And then, Charlotte’s trying to recoup and she gets lost a couple of times and goes at the crowd and then kind of misspeaks and then it was extremely awkward and it was hard to watch because I’m such a fan of the Flairs.”

The largest ‘dead zone’ ever recorded is headed for the Gulf of Mexico this summer, as high levels of pollution runoff, elevated by Midwestern floods, seep into the ocean.

The dead area could grow to as much as 8,500 square miles of toxic deep ocean water—killing all marine life in its path—warn National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration scientists.

The findings signal a warning not only about the Gulf of Mexico, but about the many dead zones that develop each year across the world’s oceans.

Dead zones emerge deep beneath the marine surface when pollution runoff from farms seeps into the ocean, releasing nitrogen that feeds large algae growths.

When areas become over-grown with algae because of excess nitrogen, they become depleted of oxygen and thus toxic to marine life, choking and killing fish in a process scientists call ‘hypoxia.’

“Dead zones are becoming more common worldwide in areas where coastal waters are swamped with nutrients, particularly nitrogen, from sewage or fertilizer,” NOAA scientists explain.

This year’s runoff is especially bad, because heavy rains and floods this spring are flushing Midwestern farm pollutants into the ocean.

The Gulf of Mexico dead zone is expected to swell far beyond its usual 18,000 kilometers, alarming scientists.

Unregulated large-scale farming is to blame for the vast pollutants the rain washes into the ocean. Time Magazine reports:

As Bloomberg points out, ethanol production carries much of the blame:

Green groups charge that the lack of state and federal regulations of big agribusiness is responsible for the toxic zones choking ocean life. State and federal initiatives are too reliant on farmers’ voluntary self-regulation and come nowhere near to meeting nitrogen reduction goals.

In May, native and indigenous communities walked over 1,700 miles along the Mississippi calling for an immediate halt to the flow of pollutants into the river.

WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley took to social media to respond to those questioning why he is interviewing Shane McMahon on a WWE Network podcast later this month instead of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

According to the “Hardcore Legend,” Austin has a previous commitment that is preventing him from being available.

Foley tweeted the following:

On Monday afternoon, WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross updated his official blog at JRsBarBQ.com with his thoughts on Sunday night’s WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view, the Cody Rhodes and Adam Rose situations and more. Below are some of the highlights.

On WWE Extreme Rules 2016:

“Enjoyed WWE’s Extreme Rules wrestling show Sunday night as it featured multiple, strong matches. I especially loved the Fatal Four Way Intercontinental Title bout and the WWE Title bout a great deal. They were two of the better WWE matches of the year.

“I am still of the mindset that going forward it would be prudent for WWE to simply consider eliminating a full card of ‘extreme matches’ in their PG world. In a reality based presentation, one would assume that having Extreme Rules matches would include some occasional ‘dramatic’ blood usage and it would also necessitate a few, selected participants missing ring time to ‘recover’ from the affects of their stipulation heavy bouts.”

On Seth Rollins’ WWE return:

“Nice to see Seth Rollins healthy and back on TV and he helps the WWE lay of the land immediately. I think Rollins needs to be a heel now and when he turns on those cheering him that can be attained. However it’s likely that some defiant fans will cheer Rollins even though the talent that they allegedly support is working his tail off to be booed.”

On Cody Rhodes parting ways with WWE:

“Best wishes to Cody Rhodes as he is beginning a new chapter of his professional life after requesting and being granted his release from WWE. It is customary when a talent asks for a release with time remaining on their contract that the release is granted conditionally and the talents generally can’t wrestle for another company that has a television program on national TV until the previously agreed upon terms of the contract have been satisfied. I am unaware of how these matters are handled today. Nonetheless, Cody will be fine going forward as he has too much going for him to fail.

“Leaving any company is not the end of times especially for a young talent with significant skills who has more options today than he will have as he likely gets older. A fresh start often times is a positive thing.”

On WWE releasing Adam Rose:

“Adam Rose has requested his WWE release and has been granted such. It wil be interesting to see how the South African native proceeds with his life and what role pro wrestling may or may not have it it. I wish Rose well and encourage him to carefully strategize his next step.”

On the anniversary of Owen Hart’s tragic death:

“Sad day in so many respects as today is the anniversary of the tragic death of Owen Hart in Kansas City at the WWE Over The Edge PPV. It’s easy to say that Jerry Lawler adn I never had a more challenging task when continuing to broadcast the live event on PPV after having to announce that Owen had died. I’ve tried to erase those memories from my mind to no avail and have never gone back and looked at the footage.

“When people ask how The King and I continued our jobs that night I can only surmise that we were both in shock to some degree and went on automatic pilot for the balance of the broadcast. While I’ve never watched the footage from KC, there is rarely a week that goes by that I’m not reminded of what a great person Owen was to all that knew him.”

  • Conor McGregor To Appear Nude Or Semi-Nude In ESPN’s “The Body” Issue!

WWE Superstar Sheamus recently spoke with Zap2It.com to promote his role as Rocksteady in the new TMNT 2 movie. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On the WWE brand split:

“I think it’s great. I think the brand split is good. When I came into WWE in 2009, I had a huge opportunity and got a huge push. It was fantastic. Myself and Daniel Bryan made it because of Smackdown. We were doing two-minute segments on ‘Raw’ before we moved over to the blue brand. To me, Smackdown is much more the wrestling style show.”

On new talents taking advantage of the brand split:

“The great thing about Smackdown was, when things were separated last time, a lot of guys were able to breakout. We’ve got great characters and such a vast pool of talent that hasn’t really gotten the chance to shine yet.”
